At the end of the day …. “Beyoncé …. Super Bowl Halftime Show”!!

BEYONCE AND THE SUPER BOWL

I’m not a football fan. I didn’t grow up watching the game, don’t know the rules and, have to say, I don’t have any interest in it.

There was no intention of watching the game at home. We had company and they wanted to watch it.

I was glad because I got to see Lady Gaga and Queen Bey.

I was glad to see both performances.

Then, all hell broke loose in the !!

Yet, I still haven’t still seen the full “Formation” official video.

However, in my humble opinion, she did a great job in bringing to the forefront the current reality of America’s society.

Kudos, Queen Bey!!

Beyoncé Made a Major Political Statement in her Super Bowl Halftime Performance

Jonathan Zhou, Epoch Times

~February 8, 2016~

Beyonce’s Super Bowl halftime performance of her new single, “Formation,” has received a large amount of post-game attention, stemming not from a reaction to its artistry, but the political message it apparently contained.

Her back-ups dancers were dressed in black leather and berets that bore resemblance to the uniforms of the Black Panthers, a black nationalist paramilitary group, some noted. In one point in the performance, Beyoncé and her dancers shook their fists in the air in unison, a possible reference to the 1968 Olympics black power salute.

The Formation hit-maker, who surprised everyone by dropping her new single and video at the weekend, had backing dancers dressed as members of armed rights group the Black Panthers.

While whipping their hair and stomping in incredible heels, they formed an ‘X’ on the field – a nod to black rights campaigner Malcolm X.

At one point in the video, a graffiti with the message “stop shooting us” appears on a side of a building, and Beyoncé sits atop a police car that’s submerged under the flood.

“Beyoncé’s dancers paying homage to the Black Panthers at the Superbowl wins Black History Month. #SB50.”

Her new song is thought to be a rallying cry for the Black Lives Matter movement and Bey’s mum Tina Knowles also shared pics of her with the dancers giving the black power salute.

Beyonce’s halftime performance was so much more than just a good show. It was a powerful homage to black history, activism, and the current climate of racial instability – in front of an audience of over 100 million people.

#BlackLivesMatter …. It’s a movement with a mission!!

#BlackLivesMatter

This is Not a Moment, but a Movement

BrownBord

“#BlackLivesMatter was created in 2012 after Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman, was acquitted for his crime, and dead 17-year old Trayvon was post-humously placed on trial for his own murder.

Rooted in the experiences of Black people in this country who actively resist our de-humanization, #BlackLivesMatter is a call to action and a response to the virulent anti-Black racism that permeates our society. Black Lives Matter is a unique contribution that goes beyond extrajudicial killings of Black people by police and vigilantes.

It goes beyond the narrow nationalism that can be prevalent within Black communities, which merely call on Black people to love Black, live Black and buy Black, keeping straight Black men in the front of the movement while our sisters, queer and trans and disabled folk take up roles in the background or not at all.  Black Lives Matter affirms the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, black-undocumented folks, folks with records, women and all Black lives along the gender spectrum.  It centers those that have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.  It is a tactic to rebuild the Black liberation movement.

When we say Black Lives Matter, we are broadening the conversation around state violence to include all of the ways in which Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state.  We are talking about the ways in which Black lives are deprived of our basic human rights and dignity.  How Black poverty and genocide is state violence.  How 2.8 million Black people are locked in cages in this country is state violence.  How Black women bearing the burden of a relentless assault on our children and our families is state violence.  How Black queer and trans folks bear a unique burden from a hetero-patriarchal society that disposes of us like garbage and simultaneously fetishizes us and profits off of us, and that is state violence.

How 500,000 Black people in the US are undocumented immigrants and relegated to the shadows. How Black girls are used as negotiating chips during times of conflict and war.  How Black folks living with disabilities and different abilities bear the burden of state sponsored Darwinian experiments that attempt to squeeze us into boxes of normality defined by white supremacy, and that is state violence.

#BlackLivesMatter is working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically and intentionally targeted for demise.

We affirm our contributions to this society, our humanity, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression.  We have put our sweat equity and love for Black people into creating a political project – taking the hashtag off of social media and into the streets.

The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.”

At the end of the day …. Race/Off: Jon Stewart’s Rant!!

JonBlack

~~August 31, 2014~~

There’s a well known saying: “There’s truth in jest”.

Jon Stewart proves it again. His “rant” covers so many points. It’s right on the money and we need to hear all of it attentively and with an open mind.

I guarantee you that every person of color in this country has faced an indignity, from the ridiculous to the grotesque to the sometimes fatal, at some point in their … I’m going to say last couple of hours.

Race is there, and it is a constant. You’re tired of hearing about it?

Imagine how ****ing exhausting it is living with it.”

I had to re-write it to make sure we get this!!

~~This Might Be Jon Stewart’s Best Rant Ever. Because Ferguson~~

“By now, some of you are thinking, “Man, I’m so tired of hearing about Ferguson.” I see it in my comments all the time. But rather than explain to you why I think that’s not the best thing to say, I’m gonna let Jon Stewart do it. He’s way more eloquent than me. And he smashes pretty much every argument you might have about why we need to keep talking in an eloquent manner.”

I am borrowing powerful images which my friend MrMilitantNegro has included in his slideshows in powerful posts. They need to be shown and shared time and time again.

I’m sure hope he doesn’t mind. I’m almost sure … brother and sister get along quite well.

~~Racism is still alive and well anchored in North America~~

(Hidden Camera)

~~Published on Apr 5, 2012~~

King Shabaka

Hidden Camera shows that Racism is still alive and well anchored in North America despite what most white people will tell you. You will often hear things like “I’m color-blind” or “you’re the racist one for seeing racism everywhere” or my favorite one: “you are a paranoiac/negative person .. .racism only exist in your head”.

Now what do you got to say after seeing this video?!!

Buje2jTIgAE-tGf

“Please before you start judging me (as usual), understand that it’s because we avoid talking about these matters that they are still well present.

Confrontation is key to solving issues.”
