Mexican music icon wowed crowds at last concert

Juan Gabriel wooed audiences with soulful pop ballads that made him a Latin American music legend.
For devoted fans around the world, his romantic rancheras were go-to tunes in the soundtracks of their lives.
The 66-year-old music star died in Santa Monica, California, on Sunday morning, two days after a sold-out show and hours before he was set to perform a concert in El Paso, Texas.

LOS DUOS 2

Los Dúo, Vol. 2 is the thirty-first studio album released by Juan Gabriel on December 11, 2015. It features many artists singing duets with Juan Gabriel. A DVD will also come with the album.

Patricia Giovanna Cantú Velasco (born November 25, 1983), known professionally as Paty Cantú is a Mexican singer-songwriter and occasional actress, who rose to fame as one of the founding members of the successful Mexican pop Duo Lu alongside Mario Sandoval.

Cantú was born in Houston, Texas. The family returned to Guadalajara (Mexico) when she was a child. At the age of 16, Cantú was drawn to entertaining people; she started taking bass and guitar lessons, eventually leaving law school to pursue her musical career.

REMEMBER WHEN?

The Dixie Chicks were an up and coming country, bluegrass roots and rock ’n’ roll music band who were really taking off as musical performers.

That all changed when a simple comment appeared to insult the then president of the United States.

Many fans, radio stations, individuals turned against them because of a single comment.

The lead singer was exercising her “freedom of speech”.

The aftermath was very negative including death threats towards them and their families.

“Not Ready to Make Nice” is one of my favorite songs from the Taking the Long Way album.

It expresses still their feelings some time after “the incident”.

I can barely being to imagine how they felt.

Yet …. they are back!!!

The Chicks, whose bluegrass roots and rock ’n’ roll spirit broke down country music barriers and made them the best-selling female band of all time in the United States, were in the middle of a lengthy hiatus. The trio had not been heard from since scaling back a 2006 tour that suffered from continuing reverberations from “the incident”:

a remark the singer Natalie Maines had made about President George W. Bush a few years earlier.

“Not Ready to Make Nice” is a song co-written and performed by American country music band Dixie Chicks.

It was released in June 2006 as the first single from the band’s seventh studio album, Taking the Long Way. It remains the band’s biggest hit in the US to date. The song was written by Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire, Emily Robison, and Dan Wilson.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. Currently working on an enterprise whose main mission will be to bring peoples of all walks of life together. To be one .... since we ALL are ONE!! The future looks bright and promising!!!
