Thinking of the day Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico

The images are vivid.

Today, marks a year that Puerto Rico went under dark — no electricity, food or communication. Puerto Rico became a graveyard and a political nightmare. Over 3,000 Americans died.

I remember this day clearly, fear entered in my heart not knowing the wellbeing of my family and friends.

A year after, the people of Puerto Rico are trying to make sense how come the federal government continues to neglect them and ignore their cry for help – kids and the sick are going without food and proper care. The trauma and financial hardship is real.

This is genocide.

Drumpf and his administration do not care.

This is what happens when an Island is colonized for years and exploited for its natural resources.

The People of Puerto Rico are strong and resilient.

We rise.

Puerto Rico is no longer a hidden island, Hurricane María has made the islanders much stronger mentally, emotionally and physically … and the whole world already knows where Puerto Rico sits in the world map … It will take time, but we will make it happen!!

~FOOD FOR THOUGHT~

Many times I run into topics to include in these posts by chance. This is what happened this morning. It is never my intention to offend any one or to make readers sad, or posts depressing topics.

My intention is always to bring forth inspirational ideas, subjects that need our attention, fun topics, music, videos, etc. 

Yet there’s always another side of the coin.

Many times we are bogged down by our reality and that isn’t bad. It is what we live day to day. Yet we forget that there are other human beings who are going through a rough time … sometimes merely because of the geographical location they find themselves in. 

Many times there is nothing that we as individuals are capable of doing. Maybe only being aware of the situation … and count our blessing because there are others who aren’t as lucky as we are.

(Nor is it the intention to tie this post with any religion/church. It so happens that I thought this particular video was well done and illustrated the point.)
