‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin Is Remembered With a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Australian wildlife expert and television personality Steve Irwin, also known as the ‘Crocodile Hunter,’ was posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday, April 26.

Irwin’s widow, Terri, and their two children, Bindi and Robert, attended the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

“Steve always said that he hoped his message of conservation would live on forever,” said Terri Irwin. “It means the world to us that Steve’s memory will live on in so many ways.”

Irwin was killed in 2006 by a stingray that pierced his heart while he was filming an underwater documentary, Ocean’s Deadliest.

When the Earth was barren and bare,

And man looked out on folly,

we killed for sport and not to eat.

We chose to start our end

By killing magnificent friend

Such noble beasts we destroyed them all

At our hand we sealed our end

or nature’s balance we tilt the scales

And doom we face for nature failed.

No food or drink when balance upset

For us a tomb and man kind loss

At last no more an upright man.

For in our place was heard a roar

From small jungle and oasis desert

THE FORGOTTEN PUERTO RICO

I’ve been keeping tabs on the ‘official death toll’ in Puerto Rico.

During Drumpf’s shameful visit to the Island, the ‘certified number’ was 17.

Keep in mind, most of the recovery activity is centered in the metro area.

The mountain towns are forgotten.

Puerto Rico is mostly mountainous with large coastal areas in the north and south. The main mountain range is called “La Cordillera Central” (The Central Range).

The highest elevation in Puerto Rico, Cerro de Punta. 1,339 meters (4,393 ft), is located in this range.

The summer solstice (or estival solstice), also known as midsummer, occurs when a planet’s rotational axis, or geographic pole on either its northern or its southern hemisphere, is most inclined toward the star that it orbits.

On the summer solstice, Earth’s maximum axial tilt toward the Sun is 23.44°. This happens twice each year (once in each hemisphere), when the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky as seen from the north or south pole.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability.
