The Arecibo Observatory is a radio telescope in the municipality of Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

This observatory is operated by SRI International, USRA and UMET, under cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.

Arecibo Observatory
Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico is a part of the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center. This national research center is operated by Cornell under a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The observatory was conceived in 1960 by former Cornell electrical engineering professor William E. Gordon. It is the largest radio telescope in the world–the main reflector dish measures 330 meters (1000 feet) in diameter and covers an area of 18 acres.

TRAGIC MILESTONE

We just counted the 200th unintentional child shooting of 2016

More than 80% of these shootings could have likely been prevented had the gun been stored responsibly.

Everytown is a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities. Gun violence touches every town in America.

THE POWER OF MUSIC

Today we post the 365th thought of the day.

Music is a privilege to all who hear her sing.
Joy, heart and happiness is mostly what she’ll bring.
Her mood is your shadow: anger, love and irritation,
Her mood reflects your own in a way of imitation.
If you’re sad, so she shall be.
If happiness is what you feel,
In her that’s what you’ll see.

If your mood is colorful, which is what is best to be,
Then colorful will be the tone of her sweet melody.
Music is something that we all take for granted,
But if you take the time to listen, you’ll find yourself enchanted!

Music is for a baby, a baby oh so small,
To make her a fragile lullaby so into sleep the child may fall.
Music is for an old grandpa, we all know that jolly old man.
Though he may never seem sad, there are times when he is down.
Music is for everyone, the young, the old, and those in between,

We ALL are ONE!!

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. Currently working on an enterprise whose main mission will be to bring peoples of all walks of life together. To be one .... since we ALL are ONE!! The future looks bright and promising!!!
