MEDICAL CORNER …. Familiar products! Origin: MONSANTO!!

~~February 3, 2015~~

Monsanto Company is a publicly traded American multinational agrochemical and agricultural biotechnology corporation headquartered in Creve Coeur, Greater St. Louis, Missouri.

It is a leading producer of genetically engineered (GE) seed and of the herbicide glyphosate, which it markets under the Roundup brand.

Founded in 1901 by John Francis Queeny, by the 1940s Monsanto was a major producer of plastics, including polystyrene and synthetic fibers. Some achievements by Monsanto and its scientists as a chemical company included breakthrough research on catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation and being the first company to mass-produce light emitting diodes (LEDs).

The company also manufactures controversial products such as the insecticide DDT, PCBs, Agent Orange, and recombinant bovine somatotropin (a.k.a. bovine growth hormone).

Monsanto was among the first to genetically modify a plant cell, along with three academic teams, which was announced in 1983, and was among the first to conduct field trials of genetically modified crops, which it did in 1987. It remained one of the top 10 U.S. chemical companies until it divested most of its chemical businesses between 1997 and 2002, through a process of mergers and spin-offs that focused the company onbiotechnology.

For its production of genetically modified crops, Monsanto’s chief technology officer Robert Fraley won the World Food Prize for “breakthrough achievements in founding, developing, and applying modern agricultural biotechnology”.

~~Who’s awesome? You’re awesome!”~~

(“Sos Groso Sabelo”) is a catchphrase used in image macros wherein the subject is pointing at the camera while smiling, and sometimes winking. They are typically used to cheer up or compliment others in random act of kindness.

The meme began in September 2004 with the launch of an Argentinian website called, which featured a picture of American TV actor Don Johnson smugly pointing at the camera with a winky smile and the caption that read “Sos groso, sabelo!” In Argentinian dialect of Spanish, the phrase can be literally interpreted as “You’re awesome! Know it!”

Created by two college students Diego and Federico Marino, the site received an unexpectedly high volume of traffic, leading the visitors to send their own “sos groso” pictures to be featured on the homepage. Though circumstantial, it is widely held as true that the meme inspired the creation of the English equivalent “Who’s awesome? You’re awesome!” macro series.

Even though the original “” site has been on hiatus since October 2004, the image macro trend continued to spread through other Argentinian photo-sharing sites, such as Fotolog which was extremely popular around that time. “Sos groso” macros are still shared from time to time on Argentinian sites like Taringa!

I want to “dedicate” this post to the followers, the readers and those who stop by and comment on this “spot”: “It Is What It Is“.

This is my spot, this is my home. However, without you, there wouldn’t be a “spot” or a “home”.

I want to thank you from the deep recesses of my heart for taking the time to stop by, read, comment and interact with me. You are the reason for my continued posting.

THANK YOU!! ~~Everything Is Awesome~~

At the end of the day … Playing for change: “What’s going on?”

~~June 4, 2014~~

Playing for Change is a multimedia music project, created by the American producer and sound engineer Mark Johnson with his Timeless Media Group, that seeks to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. Playing For Change also created a separate non-profit organization called the Playing For Change Foundation, which builds music schools for children around the world.

Playing For Change was born in 2002 as a shared vision between co-founders, Mark Johnson and Whitney Kroenke, to hit the streets of America with a mobile recording studio and cameras in search of inspiration and the heartbeat of the people. Producers Mark Johnson and Enzo Buono, traveled around the world to places including New OrleansBarcelonaSouth AfricaIndiaNepal, the Middle East and Ireland.

Using mobile recording equipment, the duo recorded local musicians performing the same song, interpreted in their own style. Among the artists participating or openly involved in the project are Vusi MahlaselaLouis MhlangaClarence BekkerTal Ben Ari (Tula)BonoKeb’ Mo’David BrozaManu Chao and Grandpa Elliott. This musical journey resulted in the award-winning documentary, “A Cinematic Discovery of Street Musicians.”

Playing For Change | Song Around The World

~~Published on Jun 4, 2014~~

From our newest album PFC3 Songs Around the World: preorder here:…

We started this performance with PFC Band members Titi Tsira and Clarence Bekker while on a trip together in Rio de Janeiro. Wherever we traveled we would add more musicians, strings in Serbia, guitar and bass in Chicago, pandeiro in Brazil and the final piece came together with Sara Bareilles’ vocal performance at Washington Square park in NYC.

The message of this song is as strong as ever and it’s up to us to make the change we want to see.

Music can show us the way.
