TWO YEARS AGO TODAY
Tragedy struck in the early hours of the night
It was a night of fun and celebration at a Latin even at Pulse, a local LGBTQ night club in Orlando.
Most victims were Latino and Hispanic.
It was Pulse’s Latin Night.
It was a horrible situation.
It was a huge hit for the Latino and Hispanic communities.
It was reported that 90% of the victims were Latino/Hispanic with 23 of the victims from Puerto Rico.

In recognition of the one-year anniversary of the attack at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where, on June 12, 2016, 49 people were killed and 53 others were wounded, the creators of mashup music videos #HAM4BEY have released their newest collaboration: a moving rendition of “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen in memory of the victims.
The music video series was created by artist Michael Korte.
The performers featured are Mario Jose, Vincint, Danielle Withers, and Eric Lyn.
The track was arranged by David Rowen, with vocal production by Alexander Blake. The video was filmed and edited by Baxter Stapleton.
On June 12, 2016 – the same day as the Tony Awards – a gunman opened fire around 2 AM in Orlando’s Pulse gay nightclub, where more than 300 people were inside.
The attack marked one of the deadliest against the LGBTQ community in the nation’s history.

On June 12, 2016, a 29-year-old security guard, killed 49 people and wounded 58 others in a terrorist attack/hate crime inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, United States.
Pulse was hosting a “Latin Night” and thus most of the victims were Latinos. It was both the deadliest mass shooting by a single shooter and the deadliest incident of violence against LGBT people in United States history.
It was also the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

In Time of Critical Need for LGBTQ Americans, “Give OUT Day” 2017 is today

LGBTQ Americans are in a state of urgent need: an administration actively hostile to the community now occupies the White House; homophobic and transphobic hate crimes have spiked following the election; over 130 laws attacking LGBTQ rights are pending in state legislatures around the country; and the one-year anniversary of the horrific Pulse shooting in Orlando is fast approaching. In this difficult climate, Give OUT Day, a national day of giving for the LGBTQ community, will once again coordinate a 24-hour online fundraising event to support over 300 LGBTQ organizations across all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
Give OUT Day 2017 will take place on April 20, 2017 from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm Eastern. Last year, Give Out Day raised over $550,000.
Throughout the day-long event, thousands of people make gifts to support a diverse array of LGBTQ nonprofits, ranging from the arts to social services agencies, advocacy groups to sports leagues, and community centers to health care nonprofits.
Give OUT Day is a project of Horizons Foundation.
Founded as a community foundation of, by, and for LGBTQ people, Horizons has been supporting LGBTQ nonprofit organizations, leaders, and donors for more than 35 years.

I could’ve been there.

I woke up this morning with a sense of dread.
I realized the date!
It’s been ‘only’ six months ago, yet it feels like an eternity.
Since then, life has changed in plenty ways for many of us.
Life ended for 49 human beings that fatal night.

On June 12, 2016, a 29-year-old security guard, killed 49 people and wounded 53 others in a terrorist attack/hate crime inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, United States. He was shot and killed by Orlando Police Department (OPD) officers after a three-hour standoff.
Pulse was hosting Latin Night and most of the victims were Latino.
It was both the deadliest mass shooting by a single shooter and the deadliest incident of violence against LGBT people in United States history. It was also the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since the September 11 attacks in 2001.

HURRICANE MATTHEW
These were the days!
For me, it really started last Tuesday when I realized this monster was headed our way.
All the predictions were dire.
We picked up all the outside furniture, wind chimes, pots and plants … anything that could be a projectile.
Wondered what last night and this morning would bring.
We feel blessed and lucky!
To our advantage, it veered a bit east, from Category 4 went to Category 3.
There was rain and wind last night.
We still feel wind gusts.
Happy to say no major damage.
We have power, water, internet and television.
Luckier than so many others.
As of this writing, the eye is going over the city of Jacksonville, north from us.
We are OK!!
