Playing For Change

In music as in life, the things that make us different make us stronger. All the various instruments, tones, perspectives, and cultures in this recording combine to create a new version of this classic Songs Around The World.

The idea was born a few years ago during breakfast at the Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia. Our friend and drummer, Peter Bunetta, introduced me to Tom Johnston of The Doobie Brothers and we talked about taking “Listen to the Music” around the world. We started the track with an acoustic guitar demo played to a click track and then added bass from Colombia, tablas and veena from India, and then headed to the Redwood Forest in Northern California to record and film Tom Johnston live outside. We then recorded and filmed Patrick Simmons and John McFee playing along to the track in a park in San Diego. The journey then continued throughout North and South America, Europe, The Middle East, Asia, and Africa. This final version features 30 musicians from 12 countries united through their love of music.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

What a beautiful concept. What a beautiful idea. What a beautiful celebration.

I can only extrapolate my feelings and believe that ALL human beings want and deserve peace.

Why is this so elusive?

Of course, it’s a rhetorical question.

There are many answers, many of us feel that way.

Each an every one has an answer for why isn’t there peace in the world.

It’s elusive and seems to be so far away.

We can only hope and image!

Oh my God, please stop war in this world
and bless us to live in this world peacefully
No one wants war in any part of this world
nor no one wants to live with strife with anyone
The pain and suffering of our innocent people can not be spoken
nor can not be count their sorrowful death
The stubborn world leaders live with safe and secure
but the innocent people are dying for nothing
The war brings not only destruction and diseases
but also death of innocent human beings
Our hearts are broken when we see so many families mourn
and cry for loved ones while crocodile tears shed by some leaders
Life can not be brought back but why did they die for?
The white dove’s wing has been cut into two pieces
and the name of peace has been written with human blood
The destruction of weapons are become human’s safety tools
and cultivated lands are become play ground of war
Oh my God, please help our world and bring PEACE.

Celine Dion sings L’Hymne a L’Amour in tribute to Paris attack victims at American Music Awards 2015

The American Music Awards took a sombre turn on Sunday when Celine Dion sang in tribute to the victims of Paris’s terror attacks.

The Canadian singer covered Edith Piaf’s L’Hymne a L’Amour after actor-musician Jared Leto delivered an emotional speech about the deadly events.

Leto spoke about an impromptu show his band Thirty Seconds To Mars had performed at Le Bataclan in Paris, the scene where 89 people lost their lives in the attacks 10 days ago.

He said: “Seven months later that same venue was under siege, one of a series of attacks that changed the world forever.
“Tonight we honor the victims of the unimaginable violence that took place in Paris and around the world.

“France matters, Syria matters, Russia matters, Mali matters, the Middle East matters, the entire world matters and peace is possible.”

Introducing Dion’s performance, Leto added:

“Many of us here are the sons and daughters of immigrants and Steve Jobs, the son of a Syrian immigrant, and President Barack Obama.

“The American Music Awards wanted to show its support for the people of France and the entire world.”

Husband pays touching tribute to ‘love of his life’ in defiant message to attackers

The husband of a woman killed in the Paris attacks has written a touching message to the “love of my life” and promised to raise their 17-month-old son “happy and free ”.

Antoine Leiris, whose wife Helene Muyal-Leiris was among the 89 killed in the Bataclan concert hall attack on Friday evening, posted an emotional message on Facebook.

Mr Leiris, who first met his 35-year-old wife 12 years ago, told the attackers he would “not grant you the gift of my hatred.”

In a post – shared more than 60,000 times by Tuesday morning – Mr. Leiris said in French he would raise their son Melvil “happy and free” and that responding to “hatred with anger is falling victim to the same ignorance that has made you what you are.”

Solutions To Terrorism: It’s Time To Wake Up

The world was shocked when Paris was attacked by extremist on the evening of November 13  and the attacks in Beirut the day before.  Humanity weeps for those we have lost in these tragic events, but it we need to look at why this keeps happening.

Russell Brand has published a video of what he thinks we need to do to end terrorism.

His ideas are great.

We must come to the understanding that we are all connected and that we share this planet with each other.

Violence is never the solution to violence, that will only fuel the flames.

If we show nothing but love to each other that will take the power away from the brutality that humans are capable of.

It is time for us to rid ourselves of these wars and unite as one on this planet.  When the history of man has reached its closure will it be ridden with acts of hatred .… or will it be the story of a logical and understanding species?

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace.

The work of the United Nations would not be possible without the initial partnerships that were active in its creation and the thousands of partnerships each year between governments, civil society, the private sector, faith-based groups and other non-governmental organizations that are needed to support the Organization in achieving its future goals.

In these times in which we live, the concept of PEACE is so important.

There’s conflict everywhere.

Beginning with the smallest unit, which is self, and reaching the widest arena, which is worldwide, all of us yearn for peace.

Peace is calm, basic comfort, family cohesion and unity, love, compassion, freedom from persecution and fear, standing together to hold each one up.

Hand in hand, working for a common goal.
