The Voice Live Finale: We McDonald Teams With Alicia Keys On ‘Ave Maria’

Wé McDonald teamed with her coach, Alicia Keys, to perform Stevie Wonder’s version of Ava Maria. The duet had a full choir of kids in the background for a powerful version that also saw both We and Alicia playing piano.

Quite excellent.

The finals are upon us as the remaining 4 hopeful artists compete to come out on top on The Voice. Fans have waited all season to see who will be crowned the next champion on The Voice.

Cellist James Todd was born into a musical family in Denver, CO.

His great-grandfather was a cellist and his grandfather a violinist and conductor.

At the age of five, he played mandolin in a group led by his siblings.

He began piano lessons in the second grade and switched to cello in the fourth grade. In high school, he was a member of Denver’s All-City Orchestra every year.

He began college at the University of Denver, but transferred after a year to Metropolitan State College of Denver. While studying business education there, he was the principal cellist in the orchestra and the chamber ensemble.

He graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in business, but went on to a career in music that found him playing with the Denver Symphony and many visiting musicians.

Two Irish Guys Give Adele a Run for Her Money

While you’re waiting for Adele‘s massive world tour to come to your neck of the woods, wile away the hours listening to this incredible cover of some of her greatest hits, posted on Facebook by Irish website, Her.

In the video, Irish singer Glenn Murphy lends his rich tenor to songs like “Hello” and “Someone Like You,” accompanied by Ronan Scolard who not only plays the melodies on the piano, but also harmonizes on the songs. The result is a beautiful, stripped down medley of some of Adele’s best songs, which would undoubtedly make the singer proud.

Since Adele is basically the Ellen of the music world, it probably won’t be too long until these two gents are invited on stage with her to perform.

Kevin Kern (born Kevin Lark Gibbs on December 22, 1958) is an American pianist, composer and recording artist of New Age music.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan. He is now generally recognized as a representative of the New Age style. Born legally blind, Kern is aided in studio by SONAR’s accessibility and Dancing Dots’ assistive music technologies for the vision impaired.

Kevin was found playing “Silent Night” on the piano at 18 months of age. He started learning the piano regularly at 4 and began writing music at 8. At 14, he put on performances with the music group he founded called “The Well-Tempered Clavichord“.

Despite his legal blindness since birth, he was still determined to be a pianist.

It finally arrived! I have been listening to The Piano Guys new CD. I must say it’s awesome. Today I got confirmation … Angelika and Connor gave it a ++ ranking!

The three of us were listening to it today. 

One of their favorite songs is “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen“. 

I must tell you that it felt wonderful singing the lyrics to this song, while the “Guys” played it, at the top of our lungs. 

Quite the bonding experience!! 

I need to say that these kids are talented … even though I’m partial to them.

~Story behind the song~

So who doesn’t love a story about an estranged ice princess, a dynamic mountain man/reindeer duo and a snowman obsessed with warm weather? We all loved the movie “Frozen” and its single, “Let It Go.” So much emotion, energy and drama packed into one tune. But we thought we’d add a little more drama … by melting together “Let It Go” and themes from Vivaldi’s classical piece, “Winter.” Vivaldi’s almost reckless string motives helped us surround the determined, upbeat melody and chords from “Let It Go” with intensity and uncertainty. We wanted the music to alternate between “freezing” and “thawing,” representing the opposing forces throughout the “Frozen” story.
