PRIDE FLAG FLIES IN SPACE

The universe is now LGBT-friendly!

Planting Peace’s latest display of solidarity with the queer community involves a Pride flag, a high altitude balloon and a GoPro camera.

The group, which regularly launches social activism campaigns to raise awareness about issues like LGBT rights and de-worming children in developing countries, used the balloon to elevate a rainbow flag up through the Earth’s atmosphere.

It eventually reached its peak altitude approximately 21.1 miles above the planet.

The flag remained airborne, floating in outer space for just over three hours before making its descent back to Earth, in what Planting Peace says is a symbolic declaration of the universe as an LGBT-friendly space.

“It was an honor to send the first Pride flag into space, and it provided a wonderful opportunity to show that Planting Peace will not stop fighting for LGBTQ rights until all sexual and gender minorities experience full, fundamental rights in every corner of the universe.”

“The backdrop of space gave us a stunning, inspiring and peaceful canvas for our message of hope to our LGBTQ family.

I would love for LGBTQ children who are struggling to see this, and look up to the stars and remember that the universe shines brightly for them, and they are not alone.”

Aaron Jackson, President of Planting Peace, told The Huffington Post.

Over the last three years, Planting Peace has engaged in a number of high-profile displays of LGBT visibility and activism.

The nonprofit created The Equality House, a rainbow-colored building across the street from the Westboro Baptist Church compound in Topeka, Kansas, in 2013 and purchased another home nearby earlier this year to create the Transgender Pride House.

These houses stand in opposition to the Church’s hate ― both literally and figuratively ― and operate as safe spaces for queer people in the area.

Human rights are moral principles or norms, which describe certain standards of human behavior, and are regularly protected as legal rights in municipal and international law.

They are commonly understood as inalienable fundamental rights “to which a person is inherently entitled simply because she or he is a human being,” and which are “inherent in all human beings” regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other status.

They are applicable everywhere and at every time in the sense of being universal, and they are egalitarian in the sense of being the same for everyone.

Mississippi’s Anti-LGBT Bigots Were Just Surprised with This Perfect Billboard

A nonprofit humanitarian group has the perfect response to the new Mississippi law that legalizes discrimination against the LGBT community.

The organization Planting Peace, which earned viral fame after purchasing a house adjacent to the Westboro Baptist Church and painting it with rainbow colors, may have outdone themselves entirely with a new billboard in Jackson, Mississippi.

The billboard shows Jesus face-palming, along with the text, “Guys, I said I hate figs and to love thy neighbor,” making reference to a less well-known section of the Bible in which Jesus curses a fig tree, making it barren.

The billboard is located on High Street in downtown Jackson, just blocks away from the Mississippi State Capitol.

“The intent of this billboard is to bring awareness to how the anti-LGBT movement continues to try to move us backwards in the fight for equal rights,” Planting Peace Founder Aaron Jackson told The Huffington Post.

Mississippi is making headlines today after Governor Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1523 into law, which allows private businesses to deny service to LGBT customers, and to anyone who has had sex out of wedlock.

Adam Bouska (born October 31, 1983 in Decatur, Illinois) is an award winning American fashion photographer who runs a photography studio based out of West Hollywood, California. He is known for pictures of male models in particular, and is considered a rising ‘superstar photographer’ in the gay community.

In November 2008, in response to the narrow approval in California of Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage, Bouska and his partner, Jeff Parshley, founded the NOH8 Campaign to promote the overturn of this ban.

Planting Peace is a nonprofit humanitarian organization founded for the purpose of “spreading peace in a hurting world”. The organization specializes in diverse global causes, including orphanages in Haiti and India, international deworming efforts, rainforest preservation, and anti-bullying programs.

In 2007 Planting Peace founder Aaron Jackson was honored as a CNN Hero for his relief efforts deworming millions of children in Haiti. In March 2013 Planting Peace gained international attention when they created the Equality House, a rainbow-colored home located directly across the street from Westboro Baptist Church, an organization largely considered to be an anti-LGBT hate group.
