COMEY CONFIRMS RUSSIA PROBE

FBI Director James Comey Confirms Russia Investigation

The FBI is investigating Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 election, including potential links with the Trump campaign, FBI Director James Comey said Monday, March 20.

Speaking before the House Intelligence Committee, Comey said that he had been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm the investigation publicly “in an extraordinary step” since the agency does not typically do so with open investigations.

“I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part out our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election and that includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Drumpf campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts,” he said.

National Security Agency Director and Adm. Mike Rogers is also expected to testify about Russian interference in the American election process.

Comey is also was questioned about whether President Drumpf’s claim on Twitter that former President Barack Obama wiretapped his phones at Trump Tower prior to the 2016 election is true.

Donald Trump’s director of African-American outreach has an ominous warning for all who dared to criticize the Republican presidential nominee, now PEEOTUS:

Soon, they will have to bow down to “the most powerful man in the universe.” 

In an upcoming “Frontline” special, Omarosa Manigault told PBS that the roots of Trump’s presidential campaign may be traced back to the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner, when President Barack Obama cracked a few jokes at the real estate mogul’s expense.

The quips came after Trump falsely accused Obama of lying about his birthplace and citizenship, thus feeding the discredited right-wing “birther” conspiracy theory.

Puerto Rico’s Alexandra Lúgaro, First Independent Candidate for Governor

Alexandra Lúgaro wants to change things in Puerto Rico and break free from the shackles of a dysfunctional two-party system that has brought the island to its knees.

Lúgaro, a 33-year-old attorney and businesswoman, is running as the first independent for governor of Puerto Rico. The candidate’s lack of party affiliation places her outside the political circles, but she aims to inject new life, hopes, and ideas into the territory’s government.

Born into a family that struggled economically, Lúgaro credits education for her success, saying it offered her the tools to improve herself. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the University of Puerto Rico and later a Juris Doctor at the same school. ~Message from Puerto Rico to the U.S. Government~

Currently, Puerto Rico is going through the worst fiscal crisis in its history. We owe 73 billion dollars to our lenders and we are not generating enough revenue to pay them back, while continuing to provide public services to our people.

To this day, the United States controls all of Puerto Rico’s foreign relations, customs, immigration, postal system, communications, radio, television, commerce, transportation, social security, military service, maritime laws, banks, currency, judiciary, tariffs, trade relations, shipping industry and cabotage rights, yet shockingly they continue to avoid their responsibility over Puerto Rico’s fiscal crisis.

We know where we have failed, but we are willing to make it right.

We’re just requesting the same from the U.S. Government:

1. Derogate the Jones Act to allow non-American ships to carry goods between Puerto Rico and the U.S. mainland in order to lower Puerto Rico’s shipping costs and give us a real chance of competing in the world economy.

2. Enact for Puerto Rico a Visa Waiver Program similar to the one extended to Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, in order for us to be able to attract visitors, doctors and students from Central and South America, jump starting our tourism industry and being able to compete with neighboring islands.

3. Take an active role in solving our financial crisis, working with our government to define a strategy that will help us meet our responsibility with bond holders and develop a healthy and sustainable economy.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday, June 25, upheld the nationwide tax subsidies underpinning President Barack Obama‘s health care overhaul, rejecting a major challenge to the landmark law in a ruling that preserves health insurance for millions of Americans.

In a 6-3 decision, a decisive victory for President Obama, the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the broad reach of the new healthcare law, ruling the government may continue to provide tax subsidies for low- and middle-income people who buy insurance nationwide, even in states that did not create an official insurance exchange of their own.

The conservative challenge to the law has been denied. It could have left more than 6 million Americans scrambling to pay for their coverage. It  has now been decided that what has become known as Obamacare, will stand.

The ruling is a crucial win for the Democratic White House, now that Republicans control the House and Senate. Had the high court ruled for the conservative challengers, it would have put the fate of the law in the hands of GOP leaders on Capitol Hill.The outcome was the second major victory for Obama in politically charged Supreme Court tests of his most significant domestic achievement. Legislation giving U.S. President Barack Obama authority to speed trade deals through Congress failed a crucial procedural test on Tuesday, April 4, 2015, delaying a measure that may be key to President Barack Obama’s diplomatic pivot to Asia.

In a setback to the White House trade agenda, the Senate voted 52-45 – eight votes short of the necessary 60 – to clear the way for debate on the legislation, which would allow a quick decision on granting the president so-called fast track authority to move trade deals quickly through Congress.

The vote marked a big victory for Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid, an outspoken opponent of fast-track.

Negotiations on the TPP are nearly complete, but trading partners have said they want to see fast-track legislation enacted before finalizing the pact, which will stretch from Japan to Chile.
