To start the day … “One Year Anniversary: Paper”!!

12thMonth

~~January 6, 2016~~

A YEAR AGO TODAY

I can’t even begin to imagine and recall the feelings of this significant day for both of us.

Some of you know that we first met in college, back in 1969!

New feelings were discovered. Plans were made. Life got in the way … it wasn’t meant to be then.

We kept in “sporadic” touch.

In 1996, life reunited us again.

Everything that “was” ceased to be … and what developed in our young years became a force to be reckoned with.

We have been together since.

Never in our lifetime did we think we’d be able to see our union recognized as a “legal” one.

Today, we celebrate our first year as a “married couple” Nothing has really changed. We live the same way we lived before January 6, 2015.

What a ride has it been!

Love is What Anniversaries are All About

Love is being happy for the other person

When that other person is happy,

Being sad for the other person

When that person is sad

Being together in good times

And being together in bad times.

Love is the source of strength.

Love is being honest with yourself at all times

Being honest with the other person at all times

Telling, listening, respecting the truth

And never pretending

Love is the source of reality.

Love is understanding so complete that

You feel as if you are a part of the other person

Accepting that person just the way she is

And not trying to change each other

To be something else.

Love is the source of unity.

Love is the freedom to pursue your own desires

While sharing your experiences with the other person

The growth of one individual with the growth

Of another individual.

Love is the source of success.

Love is the excitement of planning things together

And the excitement of doing things together

Love is the source of the future.

Love is the fury of the storm

The calm of the rainbow

Love is the source of passion.

Love is giving and taking in a daily situation

Being patient with each other’s needs and desires

Love is the source of sharing.

Love is knowing that the other person

Will always be with you

Regardless of what happens

Missing the other person when she is away

But remaining near in heart at all times

Love is the source of security.

Love is the source of life.

Happy Anniversary

NOH8 Photo Shoot in Orlando …. done deal!!

~~May 9, 2015~~

The NOH8 Campaign (NOH8 meaning “No Hate”) is a charitable organization in the United States whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.

The campaign was created as photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8″ painted on one cheek in protest.

The phrase refers to “H8″ (leet for ‘hate’), short for “Proposition H8″ (pronounced “proposition hate”), a nickname used by critics of the proposition. The photos are featured on the campaign’s website, as well as various social networks, as well as a virtual world campaign in Second Life.

From a dear Facebook friend who was there too:

“That was freakin’ awesome to have our photo taken by Adam Bouska, the talented photographer of all the NOH8 campaign photos.

I told him I am a huge fan and hugged … he smelled good.”

Done deal!

It was easy as pie. We were there by 11:40. The doors were opened at 12 o’clock. We received our released forms. Completed them and signed them.We got numbers 50 & 51.

Walked in, got our temporary tattoo on and waited for our number to be called. While we waited, I bought my obligatory “NOH8” T-shirt.

Once it was our turn, we posed and Adam took several poses. It was all very well organized.

Adam and Jeff were very professional, well prepared, quick and effective.

We were out by 12:30 PM.

Now we wait for the official photo from their Burbank Headquarters.

~HISTORY~

On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. The defeat provoked a groundswell of initiative within the LGBT community at a grassroots level, with many new political and protest organizations being formed in response.

The NOH8 Campaign was created in 2009 as a result of the amendment of Proposition 8. While initially inspired by Proposition 8, the scope of the NOH8 Campaign has expanded its main goals to fight discrimination and bullying universally as a means to spread a worldview of acceptance.
