Cover of Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’
The five-member a capella group Pentatonix has released a new music video featuring their own arrangement of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” on April 24.
The somber yet beautiful rendition is one of the seven tracks released from their latest album, PTX Vol. IV – Classics.
The simple video, set against a black backdrop, focuses on the group, as the camera pans to each singer in a circle while their voices are woven in and out together by the melody.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band’s 1975 album A Night at the Opera.
It is a six-minute suite, consisting of several sections without a chorus: an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock part and a reflective coda.
The song is a more accessible take on the 1970’s progressive rock genre. It was reportedly the most expensive single ever made at the time of its release, though the exact cost of production cannot be determined.

Pentatonix have exploded past a cappella circles to become platinum-selling superstars who tour with Kelly Clarkson. The vocal quintet are looking to brighten their star even more with the first-ever album of all-original material. The debut taste of the self-titled record came today via the doo-woppy lead single “Can’t Sleep Love.”
Premiered alongside its colorful and artistic music video, “Can’t Sleep Love” is an easy-breezy tune detailing the adorable feeling of being too excited to fall asleep when you’re digging someone so hard.
Musically, Avi Kaplan and Kevin “K.O.” Olusola give vocalists Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi and Kirstin Maldonado a bumpin’ beat to serve laid-back, pitch-perfect harmonies on top of. The result is a sweet bop of a tune that will could fit on radio with the a cappella arrangement bringing something fresh to the listeners’ ears.
Scott added
“We’ve proved we can sing and we can arrange, now we want to prove we can write. We really wanted to push ourselves. We want to establish ourselves as original artists and show that we have something to say.”
“Can’t Sleep Love” is an undoubted an intriguing start to an album that promises to include everything “from chill, soulful stuff to upbeat, poppy craziness,” according to Pentatonix. For whatever reason, viral acts like PTX have an uphill battle when it comes to releasing original music and even with major-label backing and a passionate fan base, the act may struggle in this new sect of their careers. But as far as “Can’t Sleep Love” goes, consider us pitch-slapped and eager to hear more.

Pentatonix formed in 2011 and came to prominence the same year by winning the third season of The Sing-Off on NBC, their victory earning them $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music. After being dropped from their label (Epic Records) after The Sing-Off, they formed their popular YouTube channel and distributed their music through Madison Gate Records, a small independent label owned by Sony Pictures that distributes movie soundtracks. They also made effective use of social media to interact with their fan base.
Having now eclipsed 8 million subscribers and more than 990 million cumulative views, the PTX official YouTube page is currently the 12th most subscribed-to music channel and the 39th most subscribed channel overall.

Pentatonix releases ‘Evolution of Michael Jackson‘ tribute video, documentary ‘On My Way Home‘
Grammy Award-winning and platinum-selling vocal group Pentatonix, which features former University of Oklahoma student Kirstin Maldonado, released today an impressive new mash-up video, “Evolution of Michael Jackson.”
The a capella quintet manages to give each of its members at least one shining moment in the tuneful 5 1/2-minute tribute to the late King of Pop. The mash-up features an array of Jackson’s hits, from the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” and “Billie Jean” to “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal”.
Pentatonix also released a new documentary, “On My Way Home,” Thursday, June 18, exclusively via Vimeo On Demand. The 90-minute documentary follows the group on their journey back home to Texas after they received their first platinum-selling album with “That’s Christmas To Me” and won their first Grammy.
With the expectations set higher than ever and the group riding a wave a success, PTX continued their domination on the road with their sold-out North American “On My Way Home Tour.” Mixed with live performances, fans will get a behind the scenes look as the group perfects their tour, starts recording their first original album and shares their experiences of how their wildest dreams are coming true.

This track features an arrangement of the classic carol that is at once both spirited and haunting. Mitch Grassi’s formidable tenor leads the song, and he’s well supported by the rest of the group, though Avi Kaplan’s incredible bass notes deserve a special shoutout (Seriously, how does he go that low?!).
They’re basically like a chorus of angels wearing skinny jeans… or something like that.
