HONORING PUERTO RICO
PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPH MADE WITH ‘LIVE COLLAGE’
āThat looks like a Puerto Rican statue of liberty on steroids.ā
(a friend told me)
Some of you may know, others not.
I am a fan of tattoos, having a few of them myself.
Iām alsoĀ Puerto Rican, born and raised, living in the mainland.
Since September 20, 2017, when Hurricane MarĆa battered and almost flattened my country, my personal feelings have come to the surface.
My heart and soul ache for Puerto Rico.
It’s been a week today since I visited my tattoo artist for add ons, updates, coloring and completion.
Colors, shading, The ācemĆā, the hibiscus flowers, the āTaĆno coquĆā and the āTaĆno sunā were completed.
The process is almost totally done.
Only minor details for the last sitting.
My tattoo artist, Barefoot Stacy, is amazing!
Here it is!
This is a proud Boricua woman, holding her head up high, ready to hold her stand and give the good fight.
This happens in Puerto Rico every minute of every day.
The fortitude of the Puerto Rican woman has been tested during the trying times since Hurricane MarĆa battered the Island on September 20, 2018, a bit beyond six months ago today.
I wanted to share another āalmost completeā result with you today.
Ā More will follow as itās totally done.

TIME DOESN’T STOP FOR ANYTHING OR ANYONE
LIFE GOES ON
Hurricane MarĆa battered the American possession/colony of Puerto Rico on September 20, 2017.
Life in my country has forever been changed.
Even though this is not top news anymore, the 3 million + American citizens living there are hurting, suffering and dealing with their lives the best way they can.
~THE LADY IN READ WHO APPEARS IN THE VIDEO~
Jennifer GonzÔlez-Colón is the resident commissioner from Puerto Rico and is a Republican. She has served since Jan 3, 2017. GonzÔlez-Colón is next up for reelection in 2020.
Because Puerto Rico is a territory/colony of the United States, and not a state, its representative in the House of Representatives is a delegate, called the resident commissioner, with limited voting privileges – GonzĆ”lez-Colón can vote in committee but not on the House floor, including not on the final passage of bills. Delegates have a marginalized role in Congress and their constituents are not represented in Congress in the same manner as most citizens.
I don’t agree with her politics and I personally do not like her.Ā
(How can a woman, from an American colony, be a Republican, escapes my mind’s grasp!)
A little help would go a long way.
This short video explains a lot.

FIEBRE
(FEVER)
My favorite Puerto Rican singer, a man of my young teenage and young adult dreams, my favorite male representative of my LGBT community … he’s at it again!
And he delivers!!Ā
Need to take my mind off the usual routine and sad reality we are living
It’s Friday … a typical day for celebration and fun.
Enjoy his new video.Ā

Ricky MartinĀ just premiered his new song “Fiebre” featuring WisĆnĀ andĀ YandelĀ and its music video.
Yes, that’s right, the dynamic duo is back!
The newly married singer decided on Puerto Vallarta as the location for his new music video.
And because the 46-year-old star never disappoints, this video is just as steamy as the song.

~RINCON BEACH RESORT~
Whenever we travel to Puerto Rico to visit family and friends and to get away from the daily hustle and bustle, we land in Aguadilla. We drive to Rincón and check in.
The resort is our base. We drive from the base to surrounding towns to see friends and family.
As a matter of fact, we were due for our next trip before Hurricane MarĆa nearly flattened Puerto Rico 118 days ago.
Prior to that, Hurricane Irma also grazed the island.

NOTICE HOW BIG MARIA WASĀ
It engulfed and swallowed Puerto Rico.
According to theĀ National Hurricane Center, hurricane-force winds extended up to 30 miles from Hurricane MarĆaās center, while tropical storm-force winds extend outward for up to 125 miles.
Keep in mind that Puerto Rico is 100 miles long X 35 miles wide.
There was no place to hide!

SOMEWHERE IN BEAUTIFUL PUERTO RICO
~~December 1, 2017~~Ā
Plena PuertorriqueƱa
~MANOLO AND OLGA~
It’s December 1.
The holiday season has already started.
It will be a bittersweet celebration in Puerto Rico. Yet, the Boricua spirit will never be vanquished.
This is a new song, dropping at the perfect time, with the perfect message. The Puerto Rican people shows their strength and resilience during difficult times.
“Que rico es poder decir que yo soy PuertorriqueƱo, que rico es poder decir que yo soy PuertorriqueƱo, enamorao de mi tierra de mi cultura y mi pueblo …Ā
Sube esa bandera al son de una rica plena … “
#YoNoMeQuito
HortyRex©
The plena originated inĀ Ponce, Puerto Rico around 1900
It was first heard in the neighborhood Barriada de la Torre, whose population consisted mostly of immigrants from St. Kitts, Tortola and St. Thomas, who had settled on the island since the late 1800’s. Originally, sung texts were not associated with the plena, which was rendered by guitar, accordion and pandero, but eventually, in 1907, singing was added.
Plena was often called theĀ periodico cantadoĀ or “sung newspaper” for the lower classes because it spread messages among people, similar to theĀ corridosĀ inĀ Mexico. The traditional center of plena was probablyĀ San Antón, aĀ barrioĀ ofĀ Ponce, although the black neighborhood ofĀ LoĆzaĀ is also mentioned as the heartland for the genre. Its popularity peaked in the 1920’s.

GRIZEL ‘CHACHI’ DEL VALLEĀ
TRADITIONAL ‘BOMBA CAMPO’
Arropada con la bandera y sobre el agua, esta cantante conmueve con un lamento que da esperanza a Puerto Rico
Out of all the awful, heart-wrenching images coming out of Puerto Rico after the devastation caused by Hurricane MarĆa, there’s an emotional video which shows a wet girl, wrapped with the Puerto Rican flag, swaying in a swing over water.
She’s singing a capella a traditional song called ‘CAMPO’.
She’sĀ Grizel ‘Chachi’ del Valle Campo, a singer and exotic dancer from Nueva Jersey. She is of Puerto Rican hertiage and she’s very proud of her roots.
Chachi has worked as aĀ bakup singer for Romeo Santos. She frequentlyĀ appears in cabaret shows in the Nueva York and New Jersey area.
HortyRex©
