ONE YEAR AGO TODAY

I can’t believe how fast time flies.

A year ago we received the news of Prince passing.

He was found in Paisley Park, lifeless.

Many theories were presented, many half truths, many rumors.

No matter the reason, a huge musical giant, an amazing musician, a masterful influence was gone.

He crossed his ‘Purple Bridge”.

And left his many fans behind!

Prince isn’t dead … he just hopped on his “Little Red Corvette” … with his “Raspberry Beret” … drove off through the “Purple Rain“, over “Graffiti Bridge” … under the “Cherry Moon“, partying like it’s “1999” … because this is what happens “When Doves Cry“!!

Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter, actor, multi-instrumentalist, philanthropist, dancer and record producer. He was a musical innovator who was known for his eclectic work, flamboyant stage presence, extravagant dress and makeup, and wide vocal range.

His music integrates a wide variety of styles, including funk, rock, R&B, new wave, soul, psychedelia, and pop. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.

He won seven Grammy Awards, an American Music Award, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for the film Purple Rain.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, his first year of eligibility. Rolling Stone ranked Prince at number 27 on its list of 100 Greatest Artists, “the most influential artists of the rock & roll era“.

Prince’s Birthday Declared ‘Prince Day’ in Minnesota

Whether you’re a life-long fan or just discovering the “Purple Rain” singer, the images capture a man who wasn’t like the rest of music’s biggest stars.

Wear something purple!

Governor Mark Dayton has officially declared Tuesday, June 7, “Prince Day” in the late pop icon’s home state of Minnesota, according to the Associated Press. This special day marks what would have been the “Kiss” crooner’s 58th birthday.

The holiday was instated to pay tribute to the seven-time Grammy winner’s contributions to music and entertainment, as well as his lesser-known philanthropy work.

As fans will recall, Prince was passionate about his suburban roots and made a concerted effort to stay out of the Hollywood fray by choosing to settle down in Chanhassen, Minnesota, at his Paisley Park compound.

As Us Weekly previously reported, the legendary singer died at age 57 after he was found unresponsive in an elevator at his home on Thursday, April 21. His death was the result of “self-administered” Fentanyl toxicity, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Rainbow Colors 

A rainbow of colors,
In the light, after rain.

PRETTY IN PINK

The setting sun spreads a pearly pink glow
Over the headland and the sea down below.
Stood amongst flowers of yellow and mauve,
I look down to where there’s a secluded cove.

Rivulets of sea water run away down the beach:
The silvery sea, these streamlets very soon reach.
The sun sits in the sky, like a white ball of fire.

Birds sing out their songs like a heavenly choir.

The cliff top yonder, is a patchwork of green (pink).
The atmosphere here is so peaceful and serene.
Along the soft sands, a few stragglers still roam.

Around the jagged rocks, water jumps and foams.

Like metal to a magnet, I am drawn to this place;
I love seeing the scenery; I love the laid-back pace.
The hues on the horizon are pink, purple, and grey,
Signalling that tomorrow will be another fine day.

The beautiful Rainbow Eucalyptus – remarkably, this tree’s colouring is entirely natural.

As the Rainbow Eucalyptus grows the bark falls away in patches at different times of year exposing the bright green inner bark. As time passes the inner back changes color going blue, purple, orange and then maroon, giving the trees their incredibly colourful look.

Eucalyptus deglupta is a tall tree, commonly known as the rainbow eucalyptus, Mindanao gum, or rainbow gum. It is the only Eucalyptus species found naturally in the Northern Hemisphere. Its natural distribution spans New Britain, New Guinea, Ceram, Sulawesi and Mindanao.

The unique multi-hued bark is the most distinctive feature of the tree. Patches of outer bark are shed annually at different times, showing a bright green inner bark. This then darkens and matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon tones.

Eucalyptus deglupta is a tall tree, commonly known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus, the Mindanao Gum, or the Rainbow Gum. It is the only Eucalyptus species found naturally in the Northern Hemisphere. Its natural distribution spans New Britain, New Guinea, Ceram, Sulawesi and Mindanao. Now, this tree is cultivated widely around the world, mainly for pulpwood used in making paper. It is the dominant species used for pulpwood plantations in Philippines.

This tree is also grown for ornamental purposes, due to the showy multi-coloured streaks that cover the trunk. Patches of outer bark are shed annually at different times, showing the bright-green inner bark. This then darkens and matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon tones.
