Céline Marie Claudette Dion, CC OQ ChLD, (born 30 March 1968) is a Canadian singer. Born into a large family from Charlemagne, Quebec, Dion emerged as a teen star in the French-speaking world after her manager and future husband René Angélil mortgaged his home to finance her first record.
Dion first gained international recognition in the 1980’s by winning both the 1982 Yamaha World Popular Song Festivaland the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest where she represented Switzerland.
Following a series of French albums during the 1980′, she signed on to Epic Records in the United States.
In 1990, Dion released her debut English-language album, Unison, establishing herself as a viable pop artist in North America and other English-speaking areas of the world.
Céline Dion performed her new song “Recovering” during the 2016 Stand Up To Cancer benefit on Friday night, September 9.
The celebrity fundraiser aired live from the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, where dozens of A-list stars gathered to raise money for cancer research.
The hour-long, commercial-free telecast featured several musical performances and special guests, but Dion’s emotional tribute to her late husband, René Angelil, was one of the night’s bittersweet highlights.
René Angelil died in January following a lengthy battle with throat cancer. Just two days later, Dion’s brother Daniel tragically passed away from a combination of brain, throat and tongue cancer.
“Recovering,” which was written specifically for Dion by fellow singer P!nk, will be included on Dion’s upcoming album.
I am recovering …
The faith of a child
By a part of my heart
I was reckless and wild
I am recovering
A hope that I lost
A part of my soul
That paid the cost …
Little by little, day by day
One step at a time
Shake up the devil, oh
Take back my peace of mind
I am a recoverin’
Anxiety addict
A broken perfectionist
Somewhat erratic
I am a recoverin’
A constant regretter
Hold it against her
At least til forever
Little by little, day by day
One step at a time
Shake up the devil, oh
Take back my peace of mind
Hold me
As I fall apart, baby
Hold me
Here in the dark
Cause the old me
Run just as far as I could from my heart
When I’m going back to the start
Little by little, day by day
One step at a time
Shake up the devil, oh
Take back my peace of mind
Tell him I love him, yeah
Céline Dion breaks down crying while singing ‘All By Myself’
Since her return to Vegas, Céline Dion has paid tribute to her late husband René Angélil onstage with their children and her golden cast of his hand.
Additional footage surfaced of Dion’s return performance and shows the “My Heart Will Go On” singer crying mid-concert after performing “All By Myself” for the first time since Angelil’s passing.
It appears that the lyrics from her hit single cued her emotions that evening. The heartfelt message of the song still resonates with the singer two decades after its 1996 release.
“Don’t want to be … all by myself,” Dion belts out before covering her eyes with her hands.
While Dion was getting choked up after reciting those fateful words, audience members cheered her on as the music continued to play. The songstress took her time finishing the song.
During her first appearance since her husband’s passing, Dion was overcome with emotion more than once.

Céline Dion sang from her heart Tuesday night for her first show since the death of her husband, René Angélil, last month.
Her opening performance at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas was called a “love tribute” for Angélil on the pop star’s Facebook page.
The show started with a photo montage of Angélil’s life.
After welcoming the singer onto the stage with a standing ovation, the crowd swooned with Dion as she gave a very emotional performance of the Barbra Streisand song
“With One More Look At You/Watch Closely Now”
“It is pretty amazing that since he’s physically no longer with me, he is even more present,” Dion said with glossy eyes after the performance.
“René was my best critic.
He never told me what I wanted to hear.
He told me what I needed to hear.”
Angélil died Jan. 14 after a battle with throat cancer. He was 73.
I’m still feeling the loss of René Angélil, Céline Dion’s husband.
I can barely begin to image how she feels deep inside.
To those who followed her growth as a professional, her amazing career, the presence of René was immense. He was the creator, the protector, the guide, the inspiration. He was the love of her life.
This song was once dedicated to her niece Corrine who died quite young.
I can’t help but think that Céline is telling René to fly and
Fly, fly little wing
My sweet, my swallow
Go far, go in peace
Let nothing here hold you back
Join the heavens and freedom
Leave us, leave the earth
Leave your unhappy exterior
Change your world.
Fly, fly little sister
Fly my angel, my pain
Leave your body and us
So your suffering finally ends.
Go rejoin the other shore
The one of flowers and laughter
The one you yearned for so much
Your life from childhood
Fly, fly my love
Since what is ours is too burdensome
Since nothing relieves you
Fly to your last journey
Leave your exhausted hours
Fly, you deserve it
Become a breath, become a dove
So you can fly away
Fly, Fly little flame
Fly my angel, my soul
Leave your skin of unhappiness
Go find the light

“So many wonderful people who have worked so hard and supported me so much to make this album possible. Words alone cannot express my appreciation … I’m truly grateful for their encouragement and belief. I’d like to thank them all.”
She goes on, listing those who helped. She also thanks her parents. At the end of her message, you can read the most important part.
The most endearing and important thank you is this one:
“René …. for so many years I’ve kept our special dream locked away inside my heart. But now, it’s getting too powerful to keep inside of me.
So, after all these years, let me
“paint the truth, show how I feel, try to make you completely real”….
René, you are the colour of my love.”

PARTIAL LYRICS
I’ll draw the years all passing by
So much to learn so much to try
And with this ring our lives will start
Swearing that we’ll never part
I offer what you cannot buy
Devoted love until we die ….
Looking Back at Céline Dion and René Angélil’s Romantic 1994 Wedding
MARIA YAGODA
Céline Dion will always have the memories of her romantic Montreal wedding to René Angélil, who died on Thursday, January 14, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.
On the day of their 1994 nuptials, hundreds of fans crowded outside Notre Dame Basilica for hours, waiting for Dion’s grand entrance. And it was nothing less than grand: The singer wore an extravagant, full-bodied gown with a large lace vail. The event was a veritable media circus, with reporters and camera crews gathering outside.
Dion and Angélil met in 1980, when he was working as a music manager and discovered Dion, then 12. He signed her soon after, mortgaging his home to pay for her debut album, La Voix Du Bon Dieu.

Céline promised her husband she’d be there for him to ‘die in my arms.’
I have been an ardent fan of Celine Dion since her crossover into the American music scene. I remember her first album in English … “Unison“, released in 1990.
“Where does my heart beat now?”
It’s all history after that.
With time, I got to know her story. One aspect which amazed me most was the size of her main family. She was the youngest of 14 siblings!
Then came her fairy tale love story, her marriage, her growing family and her continued worldwide success.
Celine and her family have just suffered the loss of the patriarch of the family, her mentor, her manager, the maker of her career.
I can barely being to imagine her sense of loss.
This makes me sad.
I can only wish Celine, her children and her family, strength in this time of grief.
I will continue following her steps wherever she goes.
It is with deep sadness that we announce that René Angélil, aged 73, died this morning, January 14, 2016) at his residence in Las Vegas after a long and courageous fight against cancer.
The family wishes to live the mourning in privacy.
Other information you will be provided in the next few days.
