“There was no more meaningless phrase in all of language than “Cheer up!”
The only way to get someone to cheer up was to help them forget, and saying “cheer up” had quite the opposite effect, only reminding the person why he or she was depressed in the first place.”
Two merry blue eyes
A very little nose
A long snowy beard
And cheeks like a rose
A round chubby man
A big bulging pack
Hurrah for Old Santa
We’re glad he’s come back!
There’s a new holiday story for the 2015 season, and it’s from your favorite upstate New York inmates
The Orange Is the New Black cast has given us a treat to tide us over as we wait for season 4 with “ ‘Twas a Night in Litchfield,” which only slightly deviates from “ ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.”
It sounds like a typical night in the Big House, with Morello catching up on her “beauty sleep” and others getting lucky. (“Hey, we ain’t no monks!” Crazy Eyes says.)
Then Santa Claus arrives, and they don’t exactly greet him warmly. As Mendoza explains, “We may have robbed and roughed up St. Nick.”
“IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
This is a tradition in my grandkids homes. The Elf is already out, gallivanting all over their home. The thing is that the Elf moves around the house to make sure that the kids are behaving. Then he reports to Santa
I‘m sure that once or twice a day, The Elf has to go potty.
The Elf on the Shelf: A ChristmasTradition is a 2005 children’s picture book, written and self-published by American author Carol Aebersold and daughter Chanda Bell, and illustrated by Coë Steinwart. The book tells a Christmas-themed story, written in rhyme, that explains how Santa Claus knows who is naughty and who is nice, and describes elves visiting children between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, after which they return to the North Pole until the next holiday season.
The Elf on the Shelf comes in a keepsake box that features a hardbound picture book and a small soft toy in the form of a pixie scout elf.
