SNL took a humorous look at an R&B version of a song that begged former President Barack Obama to return to the White House.

The trio De-Von-Tré, comprised of Chance the Rapper, Kenan Thompson and newcomer Chris Redd, did their best “D*** In a Box” impression of a Boyz II Men type of 1990’s group crooning about wanting their former love to return to them.

Chance sang about ‘so-called President’ Drumpf not even having a dog in the White House.

Kenan spoke over the track about constitutional rules and regulations.

Emily Litella is a fictional character played by comedian Gilda Radner in a series of appearances on Saturday Night Live. Based on a person in her early life, Emily Litella is a popular character in Radner’s comedy repertoire.

Emily Litella is an elderly woman with a hearing problem who appeared 26 times on SNL’s Weekend Update op-ed segment in the late 1970’s. Attired in a frumpy dress, sweater and Lisa Loopner glasses, Litella was introduced with professional dignity by the news anchors, who could sometimes be seen cringing slightly in anticipation of the malapropisms they knew would follow.

The news anchor would interrupt Litella to point out her error, Litella would wrinkle her nose, say,

“Oh, that’s very different….” then meekly turn to the camera and say,

I have truly become an SNL ardent fan.

Since the election campaign, the election results and the subsequent ‘happennings’, I wait every Saturday to catch up with the skits.

It’s this humor/satire/mockery that helps me make it through the week.

I watched last night’s episode and didn’t see this.

I’m assuming that there was too much going on and the creators/producers of the show decided to go with Kate McKinnon as Jeff Sessions/Forest Gump.

Anyway, this skit is amazing and to in tune to the current American reality.

There was plenty for Saturday Night Live to dig its teeth into this week, from Attorney General Jeff Sessions recusing himself over a pair of undisclosed meetings with the Russian ambassador to the embarrassing press tour of Trump’s alleged “man in Moscow,” Carter Page.

It is possible that the late-night sketch show’s plan was thrown into disarray due to President Trump’s series of unhinged tweets Saturday morning alleging that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower (a theory based on zero evidence, and probably culled from a Breitbart story based on an unsubstantiated rumor), but with the exception of an opening bit featuring Kate McKinnon as Jeff Sessions as Forrest Gump, the political satire was lacking this week the comedic talents of Melissa McCarthy and Alec Baldwin.

Melissa McCarthy made an unannounced appearance on Saturday Night Live to deliver an uncanny impression of Trump administration press secretary Sean Spicer.

In the eight-minute sketch, a nearly unrecognizable McCarthy perfectly captured the frosty, often acrimonious relationship between Spicer and the press, the secretary’s brash and confrontational manner, his odd phrasing and the circuitousness of his answers to direct questions.

“I know that the press and myself have gotten off to a rocky start, and when I say ‘rocky start,’ I mean it in the sense of Rocky the movie because I came out here to punch you,” “Spicer” yelled.

Secretary of Education nominee Betty DeVos, played by Kate McKinnon, was also introduced to field some simple questions. “I don’t know anything about school, but I do think there should be a school, probably Jesus school, and I think it should have walls and roof and gun for potential grizzly,” DeVos told the press.

Yet, I saw two excellent comedic pieces from last night’s Saturday Night Live.

I had them recorded and just watched them.

I’ve said before, when you don’t earn the respect of others, you earn disdain and mockery.

These are perfect examples.

Lord Cheeto isn’t portrayed in a respectful manner.

I think, ‘you reap what you sow‘ is the perfect reality.

Watch Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump Return to SNL

‘Prepare to Go to War’

Alec Baldwin returned to play President Drumpf for Saturday Night Live’s cold open, where he threatened to go to war with a handful of American allies.

Accompanied by chief strategist Steve Bannon – in Grim Reaper costume – a “tired and cranky” Trump decided to “freak out” some other leaders. The first call, with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, shocked Trump who did not realize the U.S. had made a deal to accept refugees from Australia.

“No refugees,” he said. “America first, Australia sucks. Your reef is failing. Prepare to go to war.”

Trump’s subsequent attempt to get Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to agree to pay for a border wall was unsuccessful, as was a call to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, played by Kate McKinnon, who just wanted to get off the phone.

A call to Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe backfired, frightening Trump.

“I will rip out your spine and drink from your skull,” Mugabe, played by Kenan Thompson said. “You cannot even walk down stairs, you little white b—h.”

Drumpf, who frequently tweets complaints about his SNL portrayals, had not yet commented as of Sunday morning.

~’SNL’ (again) roasts Donald Trump in cold open~

Donald Trump (again) is not happy about it

When he wasn’t blocking people on Twitter or defending himself for talking to Taiwan on the phone, President-elect Donald Trump took time out of his schedule last week to retweet a 16-year-old who went on a rant about alleged, but completely unproven voter fraud.

That was the impetus for SNL’s cold open on Saturday when, after RTing the 16-year-old who was tweeting from his high school classroom, Trump, played by Alec Baldwin, looked at the camera and said,

“I really did retweet him. Seriously. This is true.”

Said senior adviser Kellyanne Conway, played by Kate McKinnon, while also looking into the camera,

“He really did do this.”

After a world-historical terrible week like this one, how do you open a comedy show? Saturday Night Live opted for something spare and moving, putting Kate McKinnon on stage alone with a piano to perform a stripped-down version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” in full Hillary Clinton garb.

McKinnon followed the song by looking at the camera, teary-eyed, and saying,

If you don’t know, look them up.

Study, educate yourself.

Don’t normalize the abnormal!
