FICKLE MAN

In 2013, President Obama intended to do something about Assad, Syria’s president, when he attacked his own people with chemical weapons.

Congress did anything but cover their ears to avoid allowing military action against Assad.

At the time, Sean Hannity stated:

‘Glad our arrogant President is enjoying his taxpayer funded golf outing, etc.

M’lord, was Hannity foretelling the future?

Seems like it!

Emily Litella is a fictional character played by comedian Gilda Radner in a series of appearances on Saturday Night Live. Based on a person in her early life, Emily Litella is a popular character in Radner’s comedy repertoire.

Emily Litella is an elderly woman with a hearing problem who appeared 26 times on SNL’s Weekend Update op-ed segment in the late 1970’s. Attired in a frumpy dress, sweater and Lisa Loopner glasses, Litella was introduced with professional dignity by the news anchors, who could sometimes be seen cringing slightly in anticipation of the malapropisms they knew would follow.

The news anchor would interrupt Litella to point out her error, Litella would wrinkle her nose, say,

“Oh, that’s very different….” then meekly turn to the camera and say,

“Never mind!”

In the space of just four days, likely Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush has come full circle on whether he would have made the decision invade Iraq in 2003 as his brother, then President George W. Bush, did.

“If we’re all supposed to answer hypotheticals,” Bush said at a town hall meeting in Tempe, Arizona, today. “I would not, have engaged, I would not have gone into Iraq.”

But over the last few days he has sought to refine that answer.

In an interview on The Sean Hannity radio show on Tuesday he acknowledged: “I interpreted the question wrong, I guess” and added “I don’t know what that decision would have been. That’s a hypothetical.”

And Wednesday, at a town hall meeting in Nevada, he said this: “The problem with hypotheticals is two-fold.

One, when I was governor I got to — I felt it a duty, I didn’t have to — to call all the family members of people who lost their lives and I don’t remember the total number but it was easily over 100.

And I felt it a duty to do that because I admired the sacrifice of their families. And I admired the men and women — mostly men — that made the ultimate sacrifice.

So, going back in time and talking about hypotheticals — what would have happened what could have happened, I think, does a disservice for them.”

But speaking to reporters after the event he hinted at the position he took today: “Of course, given the power of looking back and having that — of course anybody would have made different decisions. There’s no denying that.”

Oh, Jeb …. accept it. You have no clue. You are just a mouth piece for those behind you that tell you what to do.

I often wonder … do people like this think that the public has no recall, that we forget things as easily as they retract their statements? And even if we did, don’t they know that today everything is recorded and we can see/hear the interaction to our heart’s delight?

Please, you made a mistake and keep making it worse by attempting to fix it.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected.
