More than 29 million viewers in the U.S. alone tuned in to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding at Windsor Castle on May 19 – but not every moment was perfectly broadcast for us to hear at home.
Enter the “lip reading.”
In this “Bad Lip Reading” satire video, the team of jokesters at the Bad Lip Reading account imagines just what’s going down in the dialogue that we missed, from Prince Harry and Prince William‘s head-scratching exchange to an alternative sermon delivered by the Bishop Michael Curry.
Prepare for some prime reaction shots, too, from audience members like the Duchess of Cambridge, Sir Elton John and soccer star David Beckham.
Sir Elton Hercules John CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, 25 March 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, composer, pianist, record producer, and occasional actor. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriter partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date.
I’ve been a follower and fan for many years. I was able to watch him live, in concert this year in Orlando, Florida. He was incredible. He played his piano and sang without intermission for almost three hours.
I’ve followed his achievements in the music field, his knighthood, his personal life, his marriage to David Furnish and his (I presume), most recent welcoming of his sons to his and his lifetime partner’s life.
I want to think that he had this song in mind … thinking about the future and visualizing his sons.
~BLESSED~
Hey you, you’re a child in my head
You haven’t walked yet
Your first words have yet to be said
But I swear you’ll be blessed
I know you’re still just a dream
your eyes might be green
Or the bluest that I’ve ever seen
Anyway you’ll be blessed
And you, you’ll be blessed
You’ll have the best
I promise you that
I’ll pick a star from the sky
Pull your name from a hat
I promise you that, promise you that, promise you that
You’ll be blessed
I need you before I’m too old
To have and to hold
To walk with you and watch you grow
And know that you’re blessed
I have always admired Elton John. From his early days when he collaborated with Bernie Taupin, to his progress with awesome piano playing, to his ballads, to his work in “The Lion King“, “Billy Elliot” and “Aida“.
I admire him for his openly “coming out” and marrying his partner David and for starting a family.
I had a chance to watch his concert last night. It was inspiring, captivating and simply awesome. He sang for almost 3 full hours. It was all “business” … hit after hit after hit! It was clear that his intention was to entertain his fans to his full ability.
Incredible job ….. more to come, we hope from:
~SIR ELTON JOHN~
One of the most successful musicians ever, Elton John has had a tremendous impact on music, popular culture and fashion. Wearing flashy costumes and oversized glasses, John hit the music scene in the seventies and hasn’t looked back. His songs are all over the radio, television and movies, his influence can be seen in nearly all artists and Elton tickets are a virtual lock to sell out.
Elton John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight in London, England, on March 25, 1947. He has always had incredible talent in music, taking piano lessons at the age of seven and turning those lessons into a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music four years later. Over the next few years, John honed his skills as a pianist as well as a lyricist, and in 1967 he responded to an ad for Liberty Records.
It was then that he met lyricist Bernie Taupin, and the two struck up a partnership that launched John’s career.
Each of the first three albums that John released in the U.S., Elton John (1970),Tumbleweed Connection (1970) and Madman Across the Water (1971), all charted in the Top 10. Over the course of his career, John has produced a string of hits, including “Tiny Dancer,” “Benny and the Jets,” “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word,” and “Rocket Man.”
John has also contributed to film and theater. In 1994, he collaborated with Tim Rice to produce much of the soundtrack for the 1994 Disney classic Lion King and its musical counterpart. He also produced the music for Billy Elliot, Lestat, and Aida.
Now over forty years and 250 million albums sold later, Elton John can safely say he is a rock legend and will be remembered for years to come. John has won five Grammy Awards over his career, including two awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
It’s a little bit funny this feeling inside
I’m not one of those who can easily hide
I don’t have much money but boy if I did
I’d buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it’s not much but it’s the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one’s for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it’s done
I hope you don’t mind
I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you’re in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they’ve got me quite cross
But the sun’s been quite kind while I wrote this song
It’s for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I’ve forgotten if they’re green or they’re blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I’ve ever seen
~”Circle Of Life”~
(Live in Las Vegas, NV)
~~Published on Aug 3, 2012~~
Elton John peforming “Circle Of Life” during The Million Dollar Piano show at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV on October 8, 2011.
This show was a milestone for Elton because it was his 3000th live public performance of all time.
The song was released in the United States in October 1970 as the B-side to “Take Me to the Pilot“. Both received airplay, but “Your Song” was preferred by disc jockeys and replaced “Take Me to the Pilot” as the A-side, eventually making the top ten on both the UK and US charts.
A demo version was included on John’s 1990 box set album To Be Continued. The song has been covered by a number of artists, including Ellie Goulding, whose version reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in late 2010. The refrain from the song, “and you can tell everybody”, was sampled in the 2013 song by Aloe Blacc, The Man.
"the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord shine His face upon you and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace"
