That big bad dude was 40-year-old Terence Crutcher – a man who raised his hands high above his head in submission before he was shot to death Friday by police in Oklahoma – and those are the words of his twin sister Tiffany, who is now left to plan his funeral service.

In all, a total of four officers and a helicopter responded to reports of an abandoned vehicle blocking the road. One of them pointed a Taser at Crutcher, but it was Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby, the first to arrive on the scene, who fired the single shot.

She pulled the trigger mere seconds after a second squad car arrived, killing the father of four.

For her part, Shelby claimed the victim was reaching into a passenger-side window of her car and that she, an armed officer of the law surrounded by three others and backed up by a police chopper, felt threatened.

Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock is known for her roles in such films as Speed, While You Were Sleeping, The Proposal and The Blind Side.

Born July 26, 1964, in Arlington, Virginia, Sandra Bullock made her first stage appearance at age 5 in an opera in Germany. She first became widely known for her role in the 1994 hit Speed. She has since starred in many more films, and won an Academy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe for her performance in The Blind Side (2009), based on the true-life story of football player Michael Oher. In 2013, she starred alongside George Clooney in the critically acclaimed film Gravity. She was named Entertainer of the Year by Entertainment Weekly in both 2009 and 2013.

In 2007, she was ranked as the 14th richest woman in the entertainment industry with an estimated fortune of $85 million. In 2009, Bullock starred in two of the more financially successful films of her career, The Proposal and The Blind Side. Bullock was awarded the BFCA Award, SAG Award, Golden Globe Award, and the Academy Award for her leading role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side.

She is listed in the 2012 edition of Guinness World Records as the highest-paid actress, with $56 million. In 2013, she starred in The Heat, financially the most successful comedy of the year at the domestic box office, and the science fiction thriller Gravity. As one of the highest grossing films of the year, Gravity is Bullock’s most successful film critically and commercially.

For her role in it, Bullock was nominated a second time for the Academy Award for Best Actress, along with the BFCA, Golden Globe and SAG awards and also received her first BAFTA nomination.

Bullock was born in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Her father, John W. Bullock (born 1925), was a United States Army employee and part-time voice coach; her mother, Helga Mathilde Meyer (1942–2000), was an opera singer and voice teacher.

Bullock’s father was from Birmingham, Alabama, and had English, Irish, German, and French ancestry, while Bullock’s mother was German. Bullock’s maternal grandfather was a rocket scientist from Nuremberg, Germany. Bullock’s father, then in charge of the Army’s Military Postal Service in Europe, was stationed in Nuremberg when he met his wife.

They married in Germany and moved to Arlington, where John worked with the Army Materiel Command, before becoming a contractor for The Pentagon. She has a younger sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, who was formerly the vice-president of Bullock’s production company Fortis Films.

Bullock was raised in Nuremberg, Germany for twelve years and grew up speaking German. She attended the humanistic Waldorf School. As a child, Bullock frequently accompanied her mother on European opera tours. Bullock studied ballet and vocal arts as a child, taking small parts in her mother’s opera productions. She sang in the opera’s children’s choir at the Staatstheater Nürnberg.

The scar above her left eye was caused when she fell into a creek as a child. Bullock attended Washington-Lee High School, where she was a cheerleader and performed in high school theater productions.

After graduating in 1982, she attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where she received a degree in drama in 1986. She then moved to Manhattan and supported herself as a bartender, cocktail waitress, and coat checker while auditioning for roles.

Until the age of eighteen, Bullock held an American/German dual citizenship. In 2009, she reapplied for German citizenship.

A huge loss …. always wondering “what if”. It’s one of those “I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when … ” moments. When I heard that the plane was missing, my heart skipped a bit. “No, not again; not him”.

Yet it was. Sad loss …. what if?

On July 16, 1999, John F. Kennedy Jr. died along with his wife and sister-in-law when their plane crashed off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on July 16, John F. Kennedy Jr. took off from Essex County Airport in New Jersey in his Piper Saratoga plane with his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, and her sister, Lauren Bessette, on board. He planned to drop off Lauren in Martha’s Vineyard and then continue to Hyannis Port, where his cousin Rory was getting married.

At about 9:30 p.m., 34 miles west of Martha’s Vineyard Airport,Kennedy began his descent through haze and darkness. About seven miles from the shore, he made a right turn away from his destination and ascended several hundred feet. 

After Kennedy turned back left and resumed a descent, his plane turned right and began a rapid descent of 4,700 feet per minute, according to the National Transportation Safety Board’s official report of the accident. The “airplane struck the water in a nose-down attitude,” reported the NTSB.

U.S. Coast Guard officials immediately began a rescue search, and in the days that followed, the Air Force, Navy and civilians scoured the waters in hopes of saving the trio. Luggage from the crash wreckage surfaced on July 17.

“There is always hope,” said Coast Guard Lt. Gary Jones. “But unfortunately, when you find certain pieces of evidence, you have to be prepared for anything.”

As days passed, Americans began to lose hope that any passengers would be found alive. On July 21, divers recovered the three bodies eight miles offshore. A memorial ceremony for the three was held on July 22, where their remains were scattered at sea from a navy destroyer, the USS Briscoe.

The NTSB released its official report in 2000, which concluded that the probable cause of the accident was Kennedy’s “failure to maintain control of the airplane during a descent over water at night, which was a result of spatial disorientation. Factors in the accident were haze, and the dark night.”

With only 310 hours of total flight practice when the incident occurred, Kennedy was considered an inexperienced pilot who could not yet deal with night conditions or flying over water.
