‘Holy Mother’ for War Child 1996 …. “Luciano Pavarotti & Eric Clapton …. timeless …. “!!

~~May 1, 2017~~

In 1996, a star-studded concert was held in Italy.

The children of Bosnia were the focus of this event.

It tears my heart to think that this is still applicable to so many children of this war-torn world.

Eleven years later, it still applies!

~Luciano Pavarotti & Eric Clapton~

A star-studded Pavarotti & Friends for War Child documents a 1996 summer concert for the children of Bosnia, which was hosted by Luciano Pavarotti and featured a lineup designed to bridge the classical/pop divide.

Eclecticism, rendered with more good nature than real accomplishment, is the key characteristic of this mixed bag of performers gathering together in Modena, Italy, Luciano Pavarotti’s hometown, for a benefit concert for Bosnian children.

~War Child or Warchild~

Child soldiers, children who are used in war, as soldiers or in combat support
Refugee, children who are refugees of war
War children, a child born to a native parent and a parent belonging to a foreign military force

James Corden & friends …. ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ ….. Carpool Karaoke …. “!!

~~December 16, 2016~~

It’s that time of the year.

Getting in the spirit of Christmas.

Trying, trying …

James Corden and company help a bit.

Mariah Carey, Adele and Gaga Join James Corden for ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ Carpool Karaoke

This special star-studded edition of Carpool Karaoke also includes Chris Martin, Gwen Stefani, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Elton John.

By: Tom Sykes

The endless joy that is The Late Late Show’s Carpool Karaoke has debuted its Christmas Special, which features none other than Mariah Carey singing her celebrated “All I Want for Christmas Is You” with James Corden as their SUV makes its way through the streets of Los Angeles with a Christmas tree tied to the roof—and a heap of perfectly wrapped presents stacked in the back seat.

Carey wears a low-cut red leather jacket while Corden sports an ugly Christmas sweater decorated with snowmen and Santas.

However, there is a treat in store for Carpool Karaoke fans, as the clip cuts in with cameo lines of the same song being performed by some of Corden’s most illustrious guests of 2016, including Elton John, Lady Gaga, Chris Martin, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, Selena Gomez, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Adele.

At the end of the day …. “Don’t Give Up” cover!!

~~August 28, 2014~~

Herbie Hancock joined forces with P!nk and John Legend and the end product was this song that says so much and addresses part of the current reality of our world.

“Everybody is coming together at the table. I feel optimistic. Pain is what creates my music. I’m useless when I’m happy. Pain is my motivator. Frustration, anger, confusion, loneliness. We live in a chaotic world. This chaos is bringing the three of us into one room.”

~The Imagine Project~

Herbie Hancock’s star-studded The Imagine Project was several years in the making, recorded in seven countries with musicians from all over the globe. Hancock’s band with producer/bassist Larry Klein, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta, percussionist Alex Acuña, and guitarist Lionel Loueke is a common denominator. Much of what’s here is interpretations of well-known pop, folk, and soul songs.

That said,The Imagine Project (named for the John Lennon’s song) is a seamless, successful series of collaborations.

It’s a cover of Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush
“Don’t Give Up”

In this proud land we grew up strong
We were wanted all along
I was taught to fight, taught to win
I never thought I could fail

No fight left or so it seems
I am a man whose dreams have all deserted
I’ve changed my face, I’ve changed my name
But no one wants you when you lose

Don’t give up
‘cos you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not beaten yet
Don’t give up
I know you can make it good

Though I saw it all around
Never thought I could be affected
Thought that we’d be the last to go
It is so strange the way things turn

Drove the night toward my home
The place that I was born, on the lakeside
As daylight broke, I saw the earth
The trees had burned down to the ground

Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up
We don’t need much of anything
Don’t give up
’cause somewhere there’s a place
Where we belong

Rest your head
You worry too much
It’s going to be alright
When times get rough
You can fall back on us
Don’t give up
Please don’t give up

‘got to walk out of here
I can’t take anymore
Going to stand on that bridge
Keep my eyes down below
Whatever may come
And whatever may go
That river’s flowing
That river’s flowing

Moved on to another town
Tried hard to settle down
For every job, so many men
So many men no-one needs

Don’t give up
’cause you have friends
Don’t give up
You’re not the only one
Don’t give up
No reason to be ashamed
Don’t give up
You still have us
Don’t give up now
We’re proud of who you are
Don’t give up
You know it’s never been easy
Don’t give up
’cause I believe there’s the a place
There’s a place where we belong
