The Dunblane school massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School near Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland, on 13 March 1996, when Thomas Hamilton shot dead 16 children and one teacher before killing himself.

It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history.

Twenty-two years after the deadliest mass shooting in British history, survivors of the Dunblane Primary School massacre are sharing words of compassion – and caution – to students in Parkland, Florida.

The British survivors sent their letter on the 22nd anniversary of the school shooting in Dunblane, Scotland, where 16 first-grade students and one teacher were killed. They expressed sympathy for the students in Parkland, Florida, and urged them to keep up their fight for stricter gun control.

“We have watched and listened with tremendous admiration as you have spoken out for what you believe should happen now,” they wrote.

“We want you to know that change can happen.”

The Dunblane and Parkland shootings bear striking similarities: Both were carried out by one man with a gun, and both resulted in 17 deaths. Both sparked outrage in their respective countries, as well as calls for gun safety reform.

In Scotland, at least, those calls were effective:

Just over a year after the shooting, the UK banned all private handguns completely. There has not been a single school shooting since.

“Continue to remind everyone of exactly what happened at your school and of the devastation caused by just one person with one legally-owned gun,” the letter reads. “Never let anyone forget.”

The Parkland students’ activism has already sparked some reforms, including the passage of a modest gun control bill in the Florida state legislature. The students have also met with Drumpf for a listening session in the White House, and organized two nationwide protests in favor of gun control.

I’m aware that some aren’t capable of understanding the ripple effect after such a decision.

The states’ rights argument is particularly shitty in this case, because the crux of that argument is you can choose to live in a state that reflects your personal values, but if you’re a transgender teenager in Montgomery, you can’t just uproot and leave Alabama because the fat dip-shit two lockers down from you is afraid of the future.

That ain’t how it works!
As he suggests, right-wingers always have a new group to hate on, and they keep at it until it starts to hurt their own numbers. All the more reason to hammer home the fact that conservative Christianity is now synonymous with bigotry.

There’s a short explanation about this Pink Floyd’s song included below.

It seems that it’s very well made its way back into mainstream American.

I would title it “Another TRUMP in the Wall”. 

As I watched the included video, I can’t help thinking that it applies to a “T” to his supporters.

Take a look at the “assembly line” kids, following along.

Finally they revolt, become “free” and chaos, destruction and anarchy set in.

Lifted from “Pink Floyd The Wall” film, this video is actually comprised of two songs: “The Happiest Days Of Our Lives” and “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2” This video became the official video of “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2” after the release of the film in 1982.

This single is by far Pink Floyd’s greatest ever mainstream success, instantly attaining classic status, and is perhaps their most famous piece of work.

The song itself is a protest against the rigidity of British schools, and in particular, the boarding school system Waters would have been part of as a young boy.

VIRAL MOVEMENT DARES PEOPLE TO SPREAD ALS AWARENESS

(Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” )

“It may be warm in parts of the country, but some people aren’t drenching themselves in ice or cold water to cool down from elevated temperatures. A new phenomenon has hit the social media circuit – the “Ice Bucket Challenge.”

The challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same, all in an effort to raise ALS awareness.

Those who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a donation to the ALS charity of their choice.”

The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States. It went viral throughout social media during the Northern Hemisphere summer of 2014.

The challenge dares nominated participants to be filmed having a bucket of ice water poured on their heads. A common stipulation is that nominated people have 24 hours to comply or forfeit by way of a charitable financial donation.

Someone Actually Calculated How Much Water Has Been Used for All Those ‘Ice Bucket Challenges’ — and It’s a Lot More Than You Probably Thought

No one would deny amount of positive awareness the viral “Ice Bucket Challenge” has raised for ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, but some are criticizing it for wasting water, especially in drought-stricken areas like California.

To put the waste this campaign has caused into simple terms, let’s just assume everyone is using a five gallon bucket. Now multiply that number by the more than 1.2 million videos shared on Facebook since June 1. Based on that assumption (5 x 1,200,000), over 6 million gallons of water have been poured out in the name of Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The average American household uses 320 gallons per day, which means that based on this estimation, nearly 19,000 homes’ daily water usage has been wasted.

And that’s not even taking into account that videos posted online often depict multiple people, sometimes even entire sororities or fraternities, taking part in the ice bucket challenge, often using more than one bucket per video.

Twitter users are utilizing the hashtag #droughtshaming to call out people wasting water, and other folks are using different Cali resources to spread awareness. In one video, a Long Beach resident dumps a bucket of sand on himself, “real California style” to point out the reality of how much water we’re losing with this campaign. And then the Long Beach Post figured out that based on the 1.2 million videos uploaded since June 1st, assuming everyone used an average of five gallons, we’re looking at 6 million gallons wasted in the last few months.

That’s a ton of water (actually its 25,000 tons!)
