The norms, the standards, the beliefs, the expectations, the behavior, the basic goodness I grew up with; the values instilled in me by my parents, my teachers, my role models, my guides are being shaken to the core.
I feel the ground shaking under my feet. I’m losing my moorings. I’m questioning what is happening around me.
Evil things are happening and there’s no check on them.
Seems evil is winning a ferocious battle and I was taught that good would always prevail.
Will it?
When I have no words, tears come to my eyes and express that pain.
“Another Brick in the Wall” is the title of three songs set to variations of the same basic theme, on Pink Floyd’s 1979 rock opera, The Wall, subtitled Part 1 (working title “Reminiscing”), Part 2 (working title “Education”), and Part 3 (working title “Drugs”).
All parts were written by Pink Floyd’s bassist, Roger Waters.
Part II is a protest song against rigid schooling in general and boarding schools in the UK in particular.
Lifted from “Pink Floyd The Wall” film, this video is actually comprised of two songs: “The Happiest Days Of Our Lives” and “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2” This video became the official video of “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2” after the release of the film in 1982.
This single is by far Pink Floyd’s greatest ever mainstream success, instantly attaining classic status, and is perhaps their most famous piece of work.
The song itself is a protest against the rigidity of British schools, and in particular, the boarding school system Waters would have been part of as a young boy.
All my days I’ve been searching,
To find out what this life is worth
Through the books and bibles of time
I’ve made up my mind
I don’t condemn, I don’t convert,
This is a calling have you heard
Bring all the lovers to the fold,
‘Cause no one is gonna lose their soul
I don’t want to fight,
Hey let’s go fly a kite
There’s nothing that we can’t cure,
And I’ll keep you in my arms for sure
So don’t let nobody stop us,
Free spirits have to soar
With you I share the gift,
The gift that we now know oh oh oh
Love is my religion,
Love is my religion,
Love is my religion
Hey you can take it or leave it,
And you don’t have to believe it
I can’t believe that it’s already been two years. Time does fly when you are having fun.
This blogging adventure started one month after I retired from my full-time job. Almost 40 years working as a physician, it was time to hang up the white coat and change my tennis shoes to comfy clogs. That I did …. and here I am. I have “met” incredible bloggers along the way, I have learned about so many different topics and have shared some of my knowledge. Some have come and gone while others have steadfastly remained to be friends for life.
I must say I am very proud of this badge. It means a lot to me personally. I have managed to continue with this endeavor which I started by chance and didn’t know where it would lead.
To all who stop, comment, interact with “It Is What It Is”, I deeply thank you. You are teachers, educators and part of my inspiration. I hope to be as good as you are.
“Dr. Rex”
I’m originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida – since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico’s health system until 1985.
At this time, I’m happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 …. for a total of almost 40 years as a physician.
I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone “out there” who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is “eclectic” – a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor.
Metaphysical topics attract me. I’m interested in news – reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse – the “wrongly” affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I’m open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability. Currently working on an enterprise whose main mission will be to bring peoples of all walks of life together.
To be one …. since we ALL are ONE!!
The future looks bright and promising!!!
We ALL are ONE!!
This is how long it’s been … hoping for many more years!
It’s been a bit more than one year that I started blogging.
This was a totally brand new endeavor for me. I found it very interesting, appealing and educational. Every day I learned something new. I still learn something new to this date.
When I chose topics to blog about, I research about them. I look for related links, references and the like.
One of the most important things that have become important to me are the connections which are established with other bloggers and the readers and followers who stop by our “spots”.
I find them to be teachers, leaders, inspirational. Another source of learning, sharing and connecting.
It’s funny how things change … and at the same time, it’s sad.
The sad reality is when those relationships sour. After connecting and being some part of our lives, situations get out of control and difference appear that the bonds. There’s a bittersweet taste in our mouths thinking that what we had … never was.
The only constant we have in life is change.
This is very well expressed in the lyrics of one of my favorite songs.
Once things change, can it be recovered? Can it be fixed?
Who can say?

“Only Time” Lyrics:
Who can say where the road goes
Where the day flows, only time
And who can say if your love grows
As your heart chose, only time
Who can say why your heart sighs
As your love flies, only time
And who can say why your heart cries
When your love lies, only time
Who can say when the roads meet
That love might be in your heart
And who can say when the day sleeps
If the night keeps all your heart
Night keeps all your heart
Who can say if your love grows
As your heart chose
– Only time
And who can say where the road goes
Where the day flows, only time
