Whoever you are, you are not alone

How I wish I’d heard those words as I was coming up in my life.

I lived through this alone.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, far away from this struggle.

I struggled on my own until I discovered that I wasn’t the only one who was different.

I discovered others like me.

The process was long and prolonged. There was no internet then. The books that were available were few and difficult to come by.

Yet, I totally identify with the struggle.

That’s why we are not standing down now after the advances made since then.

I thank all of those who came before me.

I refuse to go back into the closet.

Fifty years ago, about 100,000 young people from around the country converged on San Francisco.

The First Lady Michelle Obama is doing Carpool Karaoke with James Corden

Yes, really.

The US President’s wife filmed the section yesterday on her way to the White House and announced the news through her Snapchat, according to Billboard.

It is without a doubt the biggest Carpool recruitment to date.

It looks like we can expect Late Late Show host James and Barack’s wife to croon along to at least one Stevie Wonder track as Michelle credits the singer for influencing her perspective on the world.

Michelle, 52, revealed in March 2016:

‘The very first album of my whole life was Talking Book. My grandad – we called him Southside because he lived on the south side of Chicago, not very imaginative – loved music.

‘He was a carpenter and collected jazz. He had turntables all around the house and reel-to-reels. I used to go to his house and play with his dog called Rex – again, not very imaginative – and play music with him.’

During her Carpool jaunt, it’s likely Michelle will mention her upcoming trip around Liberia, Morocco and Spain to as part of her Let Girls Learn Initiative which fights against the fact there are 62 million girls around the globe who aren’t in school.

James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke“ is the best thing to happen to late night since Jimmy Fallon’s “Lip Sync Battle.”

And since Fallon’s segment blew up into it’s own damn show, it’s only fitting that Corden’s bit is getting its own hour-long primetime special. 

“So tonight, I’m on my way before 12:30, cleaning up my language ‘cause I can’t talk dirty/ I’ll make your TV shine brighter than a halo, all leading up to a Carpool with J.Lo,” the “Late Late Show” host sings in the promo for the special, which actually looks like it could be pretty epic.
