To start the day …. “Trayvon Martin: Remembering his birthday …. “!!

~~February 6, 2016~~

I have been following this incredibly wonderful blogger for almost three years. I started blogging around that time. I feel blessed to have found her and honored to call her my friend: Xena.

Yesterday, February 5, would have been Trayvon Marrtin’s 21st birthday.

A beautiful post was entered to remind readers about this life that was taken too soon.

A clear-cut murder which never received justice.

I would like to write my own simple commentary and use the video she used.

It’s an incredible song written in honor of Trayvon 18th birthday.

Remembering him, one who should never be forgotten.

We need to spread the word and keep his memory alive!

Joining his family in their pain and tremendous loss.

Not a thing can bring Trayvon back …. yet we will always remember him.

He was 17 years old on February 5, 2012.

George Zimmerman took his life 21 days later, on February 26, 2012.

Today would have been Trayvon’s 21st birthday.

We shall not forget.

His life mattered.

Trayvon Benjamin Martin (February 5, 1995 – February 26, 2012) was a 17-year-old African American from Miami Gardens, Florida, who was fatally shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, in Sanford, Florida.

Martin, who was serving a school suspension, had gone with his father on a visit to his father’s fiancée at her townhouse at The Retreat at Twin Lakes in Sanford. On the evening of February 26, Martin went to a convenience store and purchased candy and a canned drink.

As Martin returned from the store, he walked through a neighborhood that had been victimized by robberies several times that year. Zimmerman, a member of the community watch, spotted him and called the Sanford Police to report him for suspicious behavior. Moments later, there was an altercation between the two individuals in which Martin was shot in the chest.

…. the rest is sad history!!
