Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony.
At the start of the twentieth century there were approximately 250,000 Native Americans in the USA – just 0.3 per cent of the population – most living on reservations where they exercised a limited degree of self-government.
During the course of the nineteenth century they had been deprived of much of their land by forced removal westwards, by a succession of treaties (which were often not honored by the white authorities) and by military defeat by the USA as it expanded its control over the American West.
In 1831 the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Marshall, had attempted to define their status. He declared that Indian tribes were ‘domestic dependent nations’ whose ‘relation to the United States resembles that of a ward to his guardian’. Marshall was, in effect, recognizing that America’s Indians are unique in that, unlike any other minority, they are both separate nations and part of the United States.
This helps to explain why relations between the federal government and the Native Americans have been so troubled.
A guardian prepares his ward for adult independence, and so Marshall’s judgement implies that US policy should aim to assimilate Native Americans into mainstream US culture. But a guardian also protects and nurtures a ward until adulthood is achieved, and therefore Marshall also suggests that the federal government has a special obligation to care for its Native American population.
As a result, federal policy towards Native Americans has lurched back and forth, sometimes aiming for assimilation and, at other times, recognizing its responsibility for assisting Indian development.
HAPPY LEFT HANDERS DAY
#lefthandersday
Welcome to the official site for the 25th annual Left Handers Day!
August 13th is a chance to tell your family and friends how proud you are of being left-handed, and also raise awareness of the everyday issues that lefties face as we live in a world designed for right-handers.
I decided a while back to stop giving “free time” to this awfully damaged, narcissistic, wanna-be businessman on this spot.
I’ve had it with him, his lies, his mysogynistic, racist and xenophobic views and incendiary remarks, his incitement to violence and his overt denial of what is obviously true, confirmed by video.
I tried to watch the “Convention“, just to be informed.
After 5-10 minutes, I’d had it.
I guess I only picked up the “important, news-worthy bits”.
That was more than enough.
I have to confess that I’m concerned for this country.
I’ concerned for the sanity of some members of its society.
Washington Post Runs UNPRECEDENTED Full Page Editorial
The Washington Post ran a full-page ad today, one day after Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination for president of the United States, spelling out in prolific and profound prose the dangers of a Trump presidency. It was an amazing piece of writing.
The piece hit on many topics: Trump’s playing on the racist and xenophobic undercurrent in GOP voter stances, his debilitating lack of experience or willingness to listen and learn, his wildly dangerous and improbable solutions to all the wrong problems, and his complete ignorance about the constitution.
‘Donald J. Trump, until now a Republican problem, this week became a challenge the nation must confront and overcome. The real estate tycoon is uniquely unqualified to serve as president, in experience and temperament. He is mounting a campaign of snarl and sneer, not substance. To the extent he has views, they are wrong in their diagnosis of America’s problems and dangerous in their proposed solutions. Mr. Trump’s politics of denigration and division could strain the bonds that have held a diverse nation together. His contempt for constitutional norms might reveal the nation’s two-century-old experiment in checks and balances to be more fragile than we knew.’
‘There is nothing on Mr. Trump’s résumé to suggest he could function successfully in Washington. He was staked in the family business by a well-to-do father and has pursued a career marked by some real estate successes, some failures and repeated episodes of saving his own hide while harming people who trusted him. Given his continuing refusal to release his tax returns, breaking with a long bipartisan tradition, it is only reasonable to assume there are aspects of his record even more discreditable than what we know.’
‘Mr. Trump campaigns by insult and denigration, insinuation and wild accusation: Ted Cruz’s father was involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy; Hillary Clinton may be guilty of murder; Mr. Obama is a traitor who wants Muslims to attack. The Republican Party has moved the lunatic fringe onto center stage, with discourse that renders impossible the kind of substantive debate upon which any civil democracy depends.’
‘The party’s failure of judgment leaves the nation’s future where it belongs, in the hands of voters. Many Americans do not like either candidate this year . We have criticized the presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, in the past and will do so again when warranted. But we do not believe that she (or the Libertarian and Green party candidates, for that matter) represents a threat to the Constitution. Mr. Trump is a unique and present danger.’
This year started roughly with the death of a huge star, David Bowie.
The continued passing of musical giants and celebrities has continued.
Several of these include Merle Haggard, Vanity (Denise Matthews – Prince’s protegee), Maurice White, René Angelil, Paul Kanter, Glenn Frey … several more.
I am an illustrator specializing in photorealistic colored pencil and graphite drawings. Since finding my passion for portrait and figure drawing in high school, I have developed a technique focusing on high attention to detail.
I draw my inspiration from a broad range of cultural figures, such as sport athletes, media personalities, and entertainment professionals.
With each illustration requiring many hours of work, ranging from 30 hours to 100+ hours, I share my process through time-lapse videos on my YouTube channel, which has generated over 60 million views from a global audience.
I received my B.A. in Studio Art at Emmanuel College, in the vibrant city of Boston, Massachusetts. I am now pursuing a career in illustration.
Puerto Rico is the best of both worlds, you can’t describe all Puerto Ricans as one because all Puerto Ricans are unique, there are whites, blacks, blondes, brunettes, redheads, even Asian-looking (generally nicknamed: chino) Puerto Ricans.
The only real trait to distinguish them is their attitude, Puerto Ricans never bow down, unlike almost all other countries, when Puerto Ricans go somewhere, they are the boss.
Puerto Rico is not just another Caribbean island, Puerto Rico is the big boss of the Caribbean, even though it is one of the smaller Antilles.
A word of advice for all people who are generally not welcome, like hicks and frat boys, if you visit the island, try not to look anyone in the eye, or you’ll end up 7 feet under … that’s right, 7 feet.
Don’t go to Puerto Rico to cause any trouble, everyone there is true gangsta.

“IOTD” is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”
Chandra Mohan Jain (11 December 1931 – 19 January 1990), also known as Acharya Rajneesh from the 1960’s onwards, as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh during the 1970s and 1980s, and as Osho from 1989, was an Indian mystic, guru and spiritual teacher. His international following has continued after his death.
The relationship we share with animals is unique and powerful. Even before the advent of animal domestication, a mutually beneficial and dynamic bond has existed between animals and humans. Few can argue that the human-animal bond has profoundly influenced human culture, physiology and emotion as well as the innate biology and behavior of animals.
What exactly is the human-animal bond?
It is defined as a connection between people and animals, domestic and wild. Those that study the bond between animals and humans are anthrozoologists and through their studies they have come to the conclusion that our love of animals is intrinsically linked to who we are as humans.
Without animals, we would not have made the transition from hunter-gatherers to an agrarian society.
