IT’S ON US

It’s On Us is an education based campaign focusing on sexual assault awareness and prevention on college campuses.

It’s On Us advocates for a cultural shift surrounding sexual assault, by identifying what sexual assault is and situations in which it is beneficial to step in and prevent sexual assault from happening.

Vice President Joe Biden and Adam Devine Crashed a College Party for an Important Mission

Vice President Joe Biden has a bit of a reputation as a fun-loving party animal.

So when Adam Devine needed a crime-fighting partner for an undercover operation at a college party, he knew just who to call.

A new video from Funny or Die features Biden and Devine crashing frat parties to help get the word out about a serious issue that affects college kids everywhere—sexual assault on campus, an issue that Biden has been vocal about, particularly in the wake of Stanford sexual assault case.

Biden and Devine drop the act to share their important message, though, reminding viewers how they can help prevent sexual assault.

The video is a collaboration between the White House-launched It’s On Us campaign and Funny or Die, the people behind Between Two Ferns.

Joe Biden Defends Veterans After Donald Trump’s PTSD Remarks

Vice President Joe Biden defended veterans during an impassioned speech Monday, October 3, after Donald Trump’s comments about soldiers who suffer from PTSD.

The Republican presidential nominee was addressing PTSD and suicides among those returning home from war before a veterans group in Virginia when he said those in the room were “strong” and could “handle” the horrors of war.

However, “a lot of people can’t handle it,” Trump added.

Many took his phrasing to mean soldiers who can’t handle PTSD are weak.

Biden, who said he has been “in and out” of Afghanistan and Iraq more than 29 times, said Trump was not intentionally trying to offend but that the real estate mogul “doesn’t get it,” according to The Hill.

I don’t understand why Democrats are so nice and gracious.

Here is Vice President Biden excusing Trump’s comments, stating

“I don’t think he was trying to be mean. He is just so thoroughly, completely uninformed,” Biden said.

They are not nice or gracious.

They ARE mean, vindictive, incompetent and unreasonable.

Maybe it’s time to play by their rules.

LADY GAGA AND THE SURVIVORS

The Oscars have long been a platform for social activism.

The 88th Academy Awards certainly saw its fair share of advocacy, but one performance in particular brought some of Hollywood’s biggest names to tears on Sunday, February 28.

The “Oscar” people still haven’t released the official video of Lady Gaga’s performance at the 2016 Oscars. You only get snippets of it or you need to watch it in outlets that have been allowed to use it, I guess.

Nevertheless, ABC News reported on it and explains so much more about the relevance and importance of the song and the documentary it was written for.

Lady Gaga was joined by victims of sexual assault for a stirring performance of her Oscar-nominated song “Til It Happens to You,” from the documentary “The Hunting Ground.”

The song was introduced by Vice President Joe Biden, who implored the audience to take a pledge at ItsOnUs.org to “change the culture, so no abused woman or man should ever have to ask themselves what did I do.”

Gaga then appeared alone on stage, seated behind a white piano.

Singing powerfully the words, “til it happens to you, you don’t know how it feels,” she was joined by a dozens of abuse survivors. After standing in the shadows, they joined her on stage at the song’s climax. On each of their forearms was written different words, including “unbreakable” and “survivor.” Together they joined hands with the singer as the audience rose to their feet, clearly moved by Gaga’s performance.

Nominee Rachel McAdams wiped away tears, as Gaga’s co-writer, eight-time nominee Diane Warren, looked blown away.

Exactly one year ago today, the Boston Marathon bombing changed lives forever.

Some 264 people were injured when two bombs went off near the finish line of the race. Three people were killed.

There will be memorials across the city today in their honor. Vice President Joe Biden will speak at the largest. A moment of silence will come at 2:49 p.m. ET, the moment of the first explosion.

This year’s race is next week and crews have already laid out the finish line for the tributes today.

It’s the 1st anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing and thousands of people will be running in honor of the victims, but we can all help remember and support them by sharing this song in their honor.

“We Run” is an amazing song by Liz Longley and it’s helping to bring support to the victims through the Boston Strong music compilation.

Remembering a loved one by doing something in their honor is as much for us as it is for them. It helps us heal, grow, and keep moving forward. And it keeps them close in our heart. Whether your loss is due to a tragedy, like the Boston Marathon bombing, or losing a loved one to cancer, doing something in their name honors the love they represent to you.

You can honor someone today … share this song and let them know that if anything ever happened to them you would honor them in this way.
