Hello!

My name is Heather Rooney.

I am an illustrator specializing in photo-realistic colored pencil and graphite drawings. Since finding my passion for portrait and figure drawing in high school, I have developed a technique focusing on high attention to detail.

I draw my inspiration from a broad range of cultural figures, such as sport athletes, media personalities, and entertainment professionals.

With each illustration requiring many hours of work, ranging from 30 hours to 100+ hours, I share my process through time-lapse videos on my YouTube channel, which has generated over 60 million views from a global audience.

WEPA

A word of jubilation that is uttered by mainly Hispanics, especially within the Puerto Rican community. It normally is yelled at high volumes in a nasal manner, especially after something that is celebrated.

“Wepa” normally means, “All right! Good job! Congratulations! Yeah!”

WONDER WOMAN

“Wonder Woman” made history this weekend as it became the first-ever female-led superhero blockbuster!

After receiving rave reviews from fans and film critics alike, it also ruled at the box office, grossing $100.5 million in the US and Canada and over $220 million worldwide. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, the film’s spectacular debut set a new record for the biggest opening for a female director.

This was a huge achievement for female filmmakers in general observed media analyst Paul Dergarabedian who said,

“Any ridiculous notion that a woman may not be suited to direct a big budget superhero movie is hopefully once and for all shattered.”

The film also proved any naysayers about the appeal of a female-led superhero film wrong – on the film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, “Wonder Woman” earned a 94% approval rating from critics and 93% from fans, with the site’s critical consensus stating:

“Thrilling, earnest, and buoyed by Gal Gadot’s charismatic performance, Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion.”

It’s with total respect that I use this caricature.

I’ve been watching the Democratic National Convention.

It’s been a wonderful experience … what a difference.

I’ve learned so much about Hillary and her work.

I know that she’s not the candidate for many …

Yet, when faced with the other option, I have no doubt who to cast my vote for.

The Puerto Rican Woman is one of a kind.

Like Wonder Woman, she possesses an arsenal of “weapons”.

She also has superhuman powers and superior combat and battle skills.

She is strong, loving, assertive, secure, multifaceted.

There are so many other attributes to a Puerto Rican woman.

She leaves a mark wherever she goes.

She’s reliable and creative.

She’s a multi-tasker.

She’s an Amazon!

She runs her home with precision and she raises the future of the Island.

I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I was born in Santurce and raised in Rio Piedras. I currently live in Florida - since 1999. I have a doctorate degree in Medicine; completed in 1976. My Internal Medicine specialty was completed in 1979. Worked for Puerto Rico's health system until 1985. At this time, I'm happily retired after working for the federal government for almost 28yrs. I also worked for the government of Puerto Rico from 1979 through 1985 .... for a total of almost 40 years as a physician. I want to offer any knowledge that I have to anyone "out there" who is interested. My views are liberal in almost every sense. My knowledge is "eclectic" - a bit of everything. Music and reading are my passion. Blogging has also become a very interesting endeavor. Metaphysical topics attract me. I'm interested in news - reporting human issues like injustice, discrimination and abuse - the "wrongly" affected. My intention is to bring this knowledge to an understandable level and to help anyone in need. I'm open to questions and will answer them to the best of my ability.
