Quite a strong message within this music video.

Indeed, have to watch it more than once! In a blunt manner, not sparing any punches, Donald Glover presents the true and crude reality of America.

The title is right on target:

This IS America!

On the latest Saturday Night Live, Childish Gambino – the musical pseudonym for actor and Atlanta creator Donald Glover – released “This Is America,” a searing social critique of pop culture and the experience of being black in America today.

The actor, who has been riding high these days with both his series “Atlanta” and his role as young Lando Calrissian in the forthcoming “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” both hosted “Saturday Night Live” and was the musical guest as his rap/R&B alter ego, ‘Childish Gambino‘.
Glover as Gambino won a Grammy this year for best traditional R&B performance for his song “Redbone” and premiered two new songs on “SNL,” titled “Saturday” and “This Is America.”

Here’s what you need to know about the music video that has many hailing Glover/Gambino as a genius:
You will need to watch it more than once
Directed by “Atlanta” director Hiro Murai, the video is pretty surreal and packed full of messages.
It’s expansive and filmed in a warehouse, which allows for a lot of action.
As much as your eye will be drawn to Glover as a shirtless Gambino, pay close attention also to what is happening in the background.

~It takes on gun violence in America~
Murders occur, but the guns are treated more delicately than human lives in the video — a strong statement given the current debate over gun control.
The imagery also has sparked conversation about several other themes, including police brutality, social media habits and what people are really paying attention to in the United States.
“The fact that Childish Gambino’s ‘This is America‘ tackles police brutality, gun violence, media misdirection, and the use of African Americans as a brand shield, all while dancing in Jim Crow-style caricature, shows a transcendence or mere performance and demands attention,” one person tweeted.

The Youtuber Sam Tsui has come out as gay, a day before he married his partner.

Tsui, who is best known for posting his music videos and covers of popular songs on his channel, revealed the details about his personal life for the first time in a vlog on Friday.

In a vlog, which he labelled an understated “coming out video of a sort”, Tsui announced he is in a long-term relationship with fellow YouTuber and musician Casey Breves.

I have been following these two guys on YouTube. Their music has always fascinated me. Plenty of times I have posted a new video by either one of them or the two together.

I was surfing the net on my smartphone and found a video called ‘This Promise‘ which I hadn’t seen.

Much to my surprise it was their wedding ceremony!

Amazing!

So touching and so heartwarming.

It’s already been one year, so happy belated anniversary!

WHO IS RAISING THE KIDS?

Has anyone out there had this same thought?

I must confess I have. I’ve seen it in my own family.

A three year old already has his own iPodTouch!

Another toddler I know has his own iPad … the parents ask for this permission to be able to use it themselves!

All four grandkids are “fluent” in techno language.

Sometimes even more than me.

That is scary!

I can understand why this happens.

Hand them the electronic gadget and there’s instant peace and quiet.

Instant gratification for both adults and kids.

Yet, at the expense of what?
