Cowspiracy Exposes the Truth About Animal Agriculture

Cowspiracy101314

The U.S. needs to confront the realities of animal agriculture’s environmental effects and stop feeding this growing catastrophe. Let’s convince each other to change what we eat in order to counter animal agriculture’s destructive and growing impact.

A recent documentary, Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret, asks why most leading environmental organizations are ignoring a leading cause of environmental damage.

In 90 minutes, co-producers Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn argue that our institutional and individual attention to selected environmental issues will not make a collective difference unless we also confront the realities of animal agriculture. Animal agriculture’s environmental effects are so pervasive that apparent progress elsewhere cannot counter its destructive and growing impact.

The film suggests why protection for expanded areas of the ocean will not protect oceans or…

At the end of the day …. true friendship!!

~~October 13, 2014~~

I dedicate this post to my dear friends Melanie and Jean … been through thick and thin lately. We have managed to stick together in the face of adversity. This is when true character shines through. True friendship at its best.

So glad to have you in my life!

“Friendship is born at that moment when one man says to another: “What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .””
~~C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves~~

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.”
~~Henri J.M. Nouwen, Out of Solitude: Three Meditations on the Christian Life~~

A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.”

Would you be proud?

He certainly would …. and with a twinkle in his eyes!! ❤ ….

A question that always lingers in the back of my head…

Would my big brother be proud of me now?
Would he say: ‘That’s my little sis!’ like he said when I was younger and we danced together.

Can he see the things I have accomplished?

Would he be proud?

I really hope so…

I love you and I miss you bro…

We Have Not “Overcome”

It’s all the same now as then ….. Sad to say!

Thought Provoking Perspectives

IMG_0637I lived through segregation and knew the evils of the Jim Crow system first-hand to which not much has changed. Just as they did then, they hold up a few to make it appear as if we have “overcome” or achieved some measure of advancement. Malcolm would have called some of these folks who keep telling us everything is alright – “House Niggers”; I will call them covert operatives. It was Solomon that said “there is nothing new under the sun.” This is a powerful statement because very little has changed since the 1960s, even though the remind us of this mythical dream!

If you look at history, you will see that it repeats itself; the system is designed to protect the system and that system excludes black people. Malcolm also told use that “Anywhere south of Canada was south”, meaning wherever you are in America you were subjected to…

A dear blogger friend taught me about this concept.

You can find Michelle here: http://mchelsmusings.wordpress.com/

IOTD is image of the day, a concept I came up with. I teach visual meditative therapy – or in easy terms – a mini mental holiday. For some people it is very difficult for them to get their image right. I post an image a day for people to use in their mini mental vacay. Some are serious, some are silly, and some are just beautiful!”

Vatican Signals More Tolerance Toward Gays and Remarriage

Dare I hope? Dare I believe that they are “accepting” some …… I dare not, not yet!!

The Fifth Column

Just a note about my very pro-active stance on gay marriage:  IMHO everyone should have the right to be with the person they love.  Government interference on the basis of religious belief has no place in a true democracy. It’s a human right not a legislative decision.  Thank you Supreme Court for getting this one right…

The New York Times

VATICAN CITY — An important meeting of bishops at the Vatican used remarkably conciliatory language on Monday toward gay and divorced Catholics, signaling a possible easing of the church’s rigid attitudes on homosexuality and the sanctity of marriage.

The gathering of bishops from around the world called on pastors to recognize, among other things, the “positive aspects of civil unions and cohabitation.”

The meeting, or synod, was called by

FOX …. “Boobs on the ground” …. totally uncalled for!!

~~October 13, 2014~~

Kimberly Guilfoyle of The Five on Fox News rolled out a story about Major Mariam Al Mansouri, the first female fighter pilot for the United Arab Emirates. Mansouri led the UAE strikes against ISIS and will reportedly be leading future strikes. Guilfoyle was excited about this woman’s ascent, though it was unclear if it was for feminist reasons or just because she enjoyed thinking about fundamentalist Muslims enduring the added humiliation of being bombed by a woman. “I wish it was an American pilot,” she said, but “I’ll take a woman doing this any day to them. I hope that hurt extra bad for you, because in some Arab countries, women can’t even drive!”

Naturally, Guilfoyle’s story about a woman doing a thing required her male co-hosts to take one of their patented principled stands against modern feminism. “The problem is, after she bombed it, she couldn’t park it,” quipped Greg Gutfeld, showing off that edgy humor style from 1955 he has finally mastered.

Added Eric Bolling: “Would that be considered boobs on the ground, or no?” Apparently, the idea of any woman in any military hurts extra bad for the men of Fox News, too — as does the sight of a female journalist reporting on it.

“Why did they have to ruin my thing?” Guilfoyle asked, burying her face in her hand.

In case you were wondering what kind of people are spending their time trolling YouTube for videos made by women so they can write “BOOBS” in the comments, I think we’ve found your answer.

Fox News host calls female pilot in Syria ‘boobs on the ground’
Fox News television panelist Eric Bolling asked if a female fighter pilot may be called ‘boobs on the ground,’ in a joke that viewers have condemned as sexist.
