Oklahoma Lawmakers Introduce Vile Measure Attacking Transgender Youth

What the heck is happening to this country?

The doors of hatred, bigotry and persecution have opened.

Hate and discrimination are pouring down through opened flood gates.

This is the sad reality of our times.

What happened to:

The second paragraph in the Declaration of Independence states

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Why this obsession about what people have between their legs?

Why this crap about security in bathrooms?

These seem to be demons that live in the psyche of very narrowminded people.

Scared people …. scared of what?

Vilify what you don’t know or understand.

I wonder about the demons/skeletons in their closet.

Today, HRC and Freedom Oklahoma, the state organization working to advance equality for LGBT Oklahomans, strongly condemned the introduction of a new anti-transgender bill in the Oklahoma State Legislature. The outrageous proposal would force schools to make accommodations for students who purport to have religious objections to sharing a sex-segregated space with transgender students. Going a step further, the legislation also strangely states that allowing students with religious objections to use a single-user facility is not an acceptable accommodation.

“To be clear, transgender young people are the ones being targeted. Legislators should be working to find solutions that ensure that they are safe and treated equally by their school, not stigmatized by the people elected to protect them,” said HRC Communications Director Jay Brown.

“Like so many of the anti-transgender bills we’re seeing, this is a solution in search of a problem that does not exist. School districts across this country have had policies in place for more than a decade with no safety problems at all. This does nothing more than demean transgender students and undermine their dignity.

If passed, Governor Fallin must veto this bill, which gambles with the lives and safety of young people.”

Despite claims to the contrary by anti-LGBT activists who have preyed on misinformation and ignorance, states with laws protecting transgender people’s access to public accommodations, including restrooms that accord with their gender identity, have seen no increase in public safety incidents.

Cities and states throughout the country have rejected similar attacks on the transgender community.

South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard vetoed legislation that limited restroom use for transgender children in public schools earlier this year, and the sponsor of a similar bill in Tennessee recently pulled the legislation from consideration. Additionally, after immense backlash, the City Council of Oxford, Ala. rescinded an anti-transgender ordinance that imposed jail time and a fine on violators of the law.

  1. Canada just passed a Transgender Law, it’s good move, however, it does really trouble me that, many First Nations’ homes don’t have any bathrooms, running water, etc.
    Seems to me that, the Transgender bathroom issue (which should be a non-issue, because it’s clearly obvious to give everyone equal rights), is an issue that affects people who are privileged, correct me if I’m wrong, but it is very expensive to undergo the change from one gender to another, and also expensive to keep taking the hormones required to remain the desired gender.

    I’m trying to understand the Canadia government by my comment, how the gov. can provide transgender bathrooms but not to the Aboriginal people who own this land.
    I guess the two issues are seperate issues, but they are never far from my heart because I’m a First Nations’ person: my grandfather was a Palestinian, and the same inequality is happening in Palestine to my ancestors. (Whilst the privalged “Israelis” [I don’t recognize the faux entity], who are Ashkenazi Jews [fake Jews, though, not one drop of Hebrew blood in them], pay for transgender rights, and that includes the operations, medications, etc., but the Palestinans don’t have access to medical, and many don’t have bathrooms, just as in all countries where Aboriginal people live.

    I apologize if my comment is offensive or insensitive, I truly want to dialogue, and with these new “hate speech” laws, I’m terrified to even ask any questions.

        Take your time, I’m going out for a walk with my dog, Dancer, he’s wanting to run along the lake (I can tell by his bringing the leash to me!, which I only use in town, by the lake, he runs free).

    I think you have touched on quite a number of topics. It also seems to be that we agree in many of them.
    Let’s see … where to start.
    I assume that you are currently in Canada. Am I correct?

    I find it very interesting that you mention First Nation, Palestine, priviledge Jews and, mainly, the trans issue.

    I agree with you about the amount of $$ spent on their treatment/reassigment surgery/therapy. I don’t know the exact amount but like you, I do believe it’s very expensive. The “average” trans person can’t afford what Caityn Jenner has been able to …. that’s not the norm.
    Can you imagine what it means to really know that you are in the wrong body?
    And to top it all, they are vilified, ostracized because of who they are. I don’t believe that they are sick people … I truly believe that “they are born” that way.
    It’s my true belief that these laws coming through the US legislatures is wrong and total discrimination. It’s been like that since the Supreme Court rulred on marriage equality … those against this are on a mission to undo this incredible step (you do know that I’m a member of the LGBT community?).

I don’t know much about First Nations but I assume that these are the natives (no intention to offend); the people who were there b4 progress and other “men” came and took over … similar to Native Americans, the Aborigenes in Australia and similar cultures in other countries. The “settlers” always bring problems: sickness, greed, death … you name it!

    About Palestine, you saw my last post today. I think that situation is totally wrong. It’s a total disregard about basic human rights …. it has to stop. Yet, I don’t see that happening any time soon.

    I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I live in Florida now.
    Puerto Ricans are a mix of European settlers, African slaves and Tainos (local Indians) .. I would say, the First People of my country. It’s all a mess now bc of the presence of the US. It’s a colony of the US … a possession.

    Please, feel free to ask any questions. I won’t take it as offensive or disrespectul. I also see this as a way to learn, educate and move forward.

    I think we all are one …. I think we all are the same. I strong;y feel we all should have the same rights. Yet, that is not the reality anywhere. If we are all the same, created equal … then basic rights should be the same for all, whether straight, gay, trans, First Nations …. and Palestine. We have a right to live in peace, to basic needs and basic comfort, at least.

    I hope that I have clarified/answered some of your question. May this be the start of more interaction.

    • Canada has universal medical, and that includes sexual reassignment.
      So it is the norm, even as far as Caityn Jenner has had done.
      I know a person who had surgerys and then the daily hormone injections and they are very happy with their new identity, as you say, they feel as though they are finally in the body they believe they were meant to be born in.

      Now, this is the same government that has had so many cutbacks that even to go to an optometrist every two years has now been axed: too expensive?!
      Really? Glasses are now a luxury? (and even when all optometrist visits were covered, no limit, then there was a once every two years limit, people still had to pay for the glasses).

      I’m okay with the medical expenses being covered for sexual reassignment, I just wish the rest of us could get our medical needs met too.

      I’ll find some links in the next few days or so about the horrific conditions on “reservations”, that are so bad, just last week 17 teenagers tried to commit suicide on one reservation alone. It’s so deeply distressing to me that I may have to wait to get you the links, I was walking Dancer a few days ago — deep in the forest, when I came back to my car and drove to the highway, there was a wait because there was a First Nations band playing drums by the side of the highway, while police cars accompanied some teenagers doing a run to raise suicide awareness in Canada.

      Palestinians not only do not receive medical treatment, they get rats and raw sewage dumped where they live in the West Bank, their homes demolished, and jailed without ever being charged, tried nor convicted.

      And of course in Gaza, it’s full out genocide…

In my view, it should be the same for in both examples. Why the difference? I can understand then why you may think that trans have preference. Not right …

        I’m learning a bit about reservations here in the US. The little I know has shown me a total disrespect and disregard, a very negative opinion about Native Americans. The reservations leave a lot to be desired!

        Why is it the same where you are? Please, educate me … more later!! Hugs ….
