David Garrett (born David Christian Bongartz; 4 September 1980) is a record-breaking German pop and crossover violinist and recording artist.

Garrett was born in Aachen, Germany, to an American prima ballerina, Dove Garrett, and a German jurist, Georg Bongartz. He adopted his mother’s maiden name as his stage name, as “it was more pronounceable”.

Violinist superstar David Garrett has won many plaudits both for his classical playing and unique crossover styles. Rock, pop and core classical works are all fair game for the former model.

Life and Music

David Garrett was born on September 4th 1980 in Aachen, the son of German-American parents, and first started to learn the violin at the age of four.
He made his first public appearance aged ten and was one of the first students of Itzhak Perlman at the Julliard School in 1999. He graduated from his master class when he was 23.
Later David withdrew from the international concert business, moving to New York for self-reflection and artistic advancement. During this time, Garrett earned his living by working as a model.
The youngest exclusive recording artist with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft, David has played in all the great European cities with the most distinguished orchestras and conductors.
He released his first album, Free, in 2007.
Subsequent albums have seen him experiment with core classical repertoire and crossover material.
In 2010 Garrett released Rock Symphonies, a collection of rock and metal songs recorded on the violin.
In the past, he has played with pianists Itamar Golan, Daniel Gortler and Milana Cernyavska.
In 2012 it was announced that Garrett was to play the role of Paganini in a forthcoming biopic.
He released 14, a collection of recordings inspired by his teenage years, in 2013.
Did you know?
In 2008 David Garrett held the Guinness World Record for the World’s Fastest Violinist when he played Flight of the Bumblebee in 1 minute and 5.26 seconds.

BREXIT

THE BRITISH ARE COMING … NO, THE BRITISH ARE LEAVING

I’m not am expert of any kind about this topic.

As a matter of fact, I’m bewildered by it.

I understand that the United Kingdom vote4d to leave the European Union.

I have a lot of reading to do.

I find this worrisome because I believe maybe other nations will do the same.

I think only time will tell if this is the correct move.

What is the European Union?

The European Union – often known as the EU – is an economic and political partnership involving 28 European countries. It began after World War Two to foster economic co-operation, with the idea that countries which trade together are more likely to avoid going to war with each other.

It has since grown to become a “single market” allowing goods and people to move around, basically as if the member states were one country.

It has its own currency, the euro, which is used by 19 of the member countries, its own parliament and it now sets rules in a wide range of areas – including on the environment, transport, consumer rights and even things such as mobile phone charges.

What has happened?

A referendum – a vote in which everyone (or nearly everyone) of voting age can take part – was held on Thursday 23 June, to decide whether the UK should leave or remain in the European Union.

Leave won by 52% to 48%.

The referendum turnout was 71.8%, with more than 30 million people voting. It was the highest turnout in a UK-wide vote since the 1992 general election.

A Puerto Rican Moment …. “It Happens …. Puerto Rico is still a COLONY …. “!!

PUERTO RICO IS A COLONY OF THE USA

THE AMERICAN EMPIRE IS ALIVE AND WELL

I’m aware that the graph above only mentions Puerto Rico.

I found this graph in a Facebook Page dedicated to Puerto Rican issues.

Yet, as I went looking further, the USA has actually  sixteen territories.

Five of these are inhabited.

The rest are small islands, atolls and reefs.

What do you call a country that is the “owner” of lands beyond its borders?

There’s a question that confounded Pedro Albizu Campos, is now being asked:

“How is it that owning one man (slavery) makes you a scoundrel, but owning a nation (Puerto Rico) makes you a colonial benefactor?”

American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the US Virgin Islands are also considered to have a colonial relationship with the US because its citizens are also subject to the laws of the US Congress passed without their consent.

These territories, along with Puerto Rico, are known as unincorporated territories.

Currently, there are sixteen territories of the United States, five of which are permanently inhabited: Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.

Ten territories are small islands, atolls and reefs, spread across the Caribbean and Pacific, with no native or permanent populations:

Palmyra Atoll, Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Wake Island, Midway Islands, Navassa Island and Serranilla Bank.

I want a President that can show me the paper trail of facts that leads to a decision.

Not “I read it” or “I heard it”.

‘NBC’s Lester Holt asked Trump what proof he’d seen that Clinton’s server had been hacked’.

“You don’t know that it hasn’t been [hacked],” Trump said. “What she did is illegal. She shouldn’t have had a server.”

One year later …. a incredible, historical book which opened my ages. I’m a senior citizen, in the mid 60’s … I learned the history of my country through this book!!

Flaubert and Socks.

It started with these words, Gustave Flaubert’s words in his letter to Louise Colet. And spiraled from there. A middle aged man crippled with analysis, dragging his lame foot behind him as he trudges ahead.

I run the math. 10 years in this house. 365 days a year. Deduct 500 days for vacation, travel, walking the floors au naturel. Round it. We’re talking 3000 discrete events.  3000 discrete events.

And as I sit pecking this post out, I couldn’t tell you if the drawer handle is circular or square, platinum color or brass, a smooth or a rough finish.

But for 3000 events, mostly mornings, with a few afternoon and evenings sprinkled in, I open the drawer, peer in, and stare at my socks. The first big decision of the day.

FINDING DORY 

What a long wait!

Finding Nemo was released almost 13 years ago.

Ellen finally convinced Pixar ro make the sequel.

The project took three years to complete.

I finally found Dory at a local theater on June 21, 2016.

Loved it!

Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) is a wide-eyed, blue tang fish who suffers from memory loss every 10 seconds or so. The one thing she can remember is that she somehow became separated from her parents as a child.

With help from her friends Nemo and Marlin, Dory embarks on an epic adventure to find them. Her journey brings her to the Marine Life Institute, a conservatory that houses diverse ocean species.

Dory now knows that her family reunion will only happen if she can save mom and dad from captivity.
