GRIZEL ‘CHACHI’ DEL VALLE

TRADITIONAL ‘BOMBA CAMPO’

Arropada con la bandera y sobre el agua, esta cantante conmueve con un lamento que da esperanza a Puerto Rico

Out of all the awful, heart-wrenching images coming out of Puerto Rico after the devastation caused by Hurricane María, there’s an emotional video which shows a wet girl, wrapped with the Puerto Rican flag, swaying in a swing over water.

She’s singing a capella a traditional song called ‘CAMPO’.

She’s Grizel ‘Chachi’ del Valle Campo, a singer and exotic dancer from Nueva Jersey. She is of Puerto Rican hertiage and she’s very proud of her roots.

Chachi has worked as a  bakup singer for Romeo Santos. She frequently  appears in cabaret shows in the Nueva York and New Jersey area.

Puerto Rico’s Recent History …. “🇵🇷 Understanding Unique Challenges Faced 🇵🇷 …. “!!

PRPerla

~~October 12, 2017~~

PUERTO RICO IS A COLONY OF THE UNITED STATES

UNIQUE POSITION

Many things have happened in Puerto Rico since 1898, the year the United States invaded the Island. It has been continued insult upon insult for almost a century.

After the devastating destruction and subsequent response by the American government, Puerto Rico remains in dire straits.

To add insult to injury, these are the words of the ‘so-called president’ of the mighty, inperialistic U.S. of A. this morning:

Puerto Rico ‘Survived’ So There’s No Need FEMA Or Military Anymore

HortyRex©

BLine

~Vox added a new video~

Why Puerto Rico will be without power for months
Millions of American citizens will be living in horrible conditions for the foreseeable future.

Yes, Puerto Rico is “an island surround by big water,” but this isn’t just a logistics problem. Here’s what you need to know about Puerto Rico’s recent history to understand the unique challenges they face.

BLine

Perpetual victim Drumpf is again blaming Puerto Rico for the island’s problems after it was destroyed by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The news from PR isn’t good but you won’t find that news on FEMA’s website since they deleted the stats on how much of the island has power.

The U.S. citizens on the island feel abandoned, hungry and frustrated. About 10 percent of the island has power and there are no means of communication with the outside world.

“We cannot keep FEMA, the Military & the First Responders, who have been amazing (under the most difficult circumstances) in P.R. forever!” he added.

The good people of Puerto Rico have suffered beyond belief and this f*cking moron wants to take the little bit of help they’re receiving away.

FEMA has not handled the disaster well and even declared that it’s not their job to hand out food and water to hurricane victims. The agency is simply filling out paperwork. And Drumpf is busy tweeting.

This one is personal, Mr. Drumpf.

We’re still waiting to hear from family and friends down there.

DEFINITION OF RESPONSIBILITY

IT’S A MORAL OBLIGATION

A duty or obligation to satisfactorily perform or complete a task (assigned by someone, or created by one’s own promise or circumstances) that one must fulfill, and which has a consequent penalty for failure.

Puerto Rico was on its way to become a free nation

In 1897, the Spanish prime minister signed the ‘Charter of Autonomy’ which granted Puerto Rico the right to its own legislature, constitution, tariffs, monetary system, treasury, judiciary and international borders. After 400 years of colonial rule, the charter created the free Republic of Puerto Rico. Elections were held in March 1989 and the new government was scheduled for installation in May.

On May 12, the invasion of San Juan by US forces began.

For Puerto Ricans, July 25th 1898 represents the fateful day when the United States invaded the island.  At the time, the goal was to become independent from Spain. However, the island’s political and economic infrastructure was broken and drained of  resources. Country folks had no idea who the newcomers were.  As most of us know, the 19th century became a turning point in history as many countries in Latin America and the Caribbean gained their independence from Spain and Portugal except for Puerto Rico, Cuba, Guam and the Philippines.

There is no requirement for a visa or a passport. Alabama authorities can’t require me to be interviewed or vetted. They can’t require me to speak with a rural Appalachian dialect, although I do.

The rich asshole waited too long to start talking about Puerto Rico. He spent his time railing on black men earning more than him and refusing to shut up and dance for the entertainment of white-folk. He didn’t dispatch the military’s floating hospital, Comfort,  until Hillary publicly told him we had one. He belatedly sent 5,000 troops for the entire island even though Lt. General Honoré was in command of 40,000 troops just for New Orleans. He hasn’t dispatched a swarm of helicopters to drop pallets of meals-ready-to-eat and potable water.

I agree with Lt. General Honoré … we need to conduct a MASS EVACUATION. Send in ships and make arrangements with airlines to utilize wide-body planes.

Go get all 3.5 million brown-skin Spanish-speaking NATURAL-BORN US CITIZENS and bring them here to the US mainland and hug them and feed them and clothe them and put shoes on their feet and provide them with vouchers for housing and food.

If we can’t take care of our brothers and sisters down there – and we can’t, due to the abject lack of empathy and the shocking incompetence and ineptitude of the rich asshole – we need to bring ALL of them up here and collectively take care of them.

It’s our moral imperative and civic duty.”

MONICA PUIG

HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN PUERTO RICO

‘Help Puerto Rico,’ it’s ‘in crisis now’

Mónica Puig is closing in on her new goal of raising $100,000 to assist Puerto Rico after Hurricane María battered the island, insisting that the US territory needs all the help it can get – and immediately.

Puig chose her words carefully when asked if the US’s response has been fast enough but the world No. 77 said:

“The only thing I can say is that we need help and we need it now.

I don’t want to see suffering in Puerto Rico.
“We need all the help we can get from wherever we can get it. I just don’t want to see lives lost due to this crisis. It means a lot, anyone who is willing to help.
“We just need their help as quickly as possible.”

The tennis ace – who became Puerto Rico’s first ever Olympic gold medalist at last year’s Rio Games – says she has been in touch with pop superstar and fellow Puerto Rican Luis Fonsi to see what else can be done to help a week after María battered the island with torrential rains and 155-mile-per-hour winds.

Puerto Rico Update …. “🇵🇷 Two Weeks in …. It’s an Exercise in Survival 🇵🇷 …. “!!

PUERTO RICO UPDATE

”AN EXERCISE IN SURVIVIAL”

This is a post written by my very dear friend Suzy P., who currently lives in Illinois. She spent plenty years in Puerto Rico while her husband Grant worked there.

Suzy absorbed the Puerto Rican culture and ways as second nature.

Today, from a distance, she feels like we do.

Her soul and her heart ache as much as mine.

This is a thread written by her husband’s boss just one day ago.

Today, Oct 6th, Grant and I finally heard from Grant’s former boss in Moca, Puerto Rico. Frank was the plant manager for the Baxter Fenwal plant in San Germán for many years.

Frank is one of the most calm, capable, resourceful men that we know.

Grant spoke to Frank the night before Hurricane Maria hit and he was well prepared for the hurricane.

He tells us today that the past two weeks have been truly an exercise in survival.

BLine

Here is the series of text messages we got from Frank today

“Devastation here. No drinking water, running generator, gas supply (on the island) still stabilizing, cell signal now intermittent. We are OK. Bank access limited. Supermarkets having generator issues.

These first two weeks have been an exercise in survival.

Prioritization, focus, luck.”

Dominica Hurricane Maria

“Difficult environment. Eye passed over Moca, 35 minutes, second half horrible. Wind damage extensive in all west coast towns, Aguada, Aguadilla, flooding on coasts, massive erosion.

I’ve lost 11 pounds. Dehydration.

Nightmare scenario – we got nuked.

People helping each other.”

Erosion

“I have never seen or felt anything like this. During the height of the storm, I thought a few times we were history. It felt like a concussive force. And it wouldn’t stop. Rincón sustained significant damage.

Downed power lines, land slides, flooding.

Roads still marginal.”

MAria

After Grant offered to come down and help, Frank wrote:

“Don’t come here, you’ll never get out”.

(Some airlines report they have waiting lists of over 20,000 people wanting to leave the island).

Puerto Rico Faces Extensive Damage After Hurricane Maria

Please keep Puerto Rico’s ongoing humanitarian crisis in the news.

Send donations & prayers.

Many whom we love are there.

WHERE I COME FROM

Hola, My name is Horty Rexach and just so you know, I was born and raised in Puerto Rico.

My parents met and married in New York City in the 1930’s.

They were from a Beautiful Island of Beautiful People in the middle of the ocean. surrounded by water.

Oh! … and we are Americans!!

Yes, American Citizens!
We speak Spanish and English as well as Spanglish!

Our little island, surrounded by big water, contributes more service members per capita than any other state in the union. We have astronauts, scientists, a Supreme Court Justice, Medal of Honor recipients, legendary sports figures, scholars, Oscar winners actors and actresses, internationally known musicians, and many, many more distinguished citizens who call our little beautiful island their Mother and Father Land.

We are a GORGEOUS and an interesting mix of Native Taíno Indians, Spaniards, African and other European blood that gives us our incredible drive to survive.

I’m Puerto Rican and I’m damn proud of it!!!
