Billy is an award winning 17 year old Anglo-Brazilian classical/fingerstyle instrumental guitarist, inspired by the likes of Rodrigo y Gabriela, Tommy Emmanuel, Mike Oldfield and Paco De Lucía.

In 2016, he reached the grand final of ‘Guitar Star’ – a guitar based talent show open to all ages and genres for Sky Arts TV, which was broadcast in Europe, Australia and South America.

An experienced live performer, he has graced the main stage of Towersey Festival along with Midge Ure and Billy Bragg and was musical guest of comedian Rory Bremner, performing live on BBC Radio Scotland and at 2 sold out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016, where he has regularly performed on the Royal Mile since the age of 9.

His audition for the show, performing a classical arrangement of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ was a viral internet sensation, and altogether his videos have been seen by over 60 million people.

“Fields of Gold” is a song written and recorded by Sting.

It first appeared on his 1993 album Ten Summoner’s Tales. The song was released as a single but only made it to number 16 on the UK Singles Chart and to number 23 in the United States Billboard Hot 100.

However, it became one of Sting’s most famous songs, with many renowned artists covering the song.

In Lyrics By Sting, the singer described the view from his 16th-century Wiltshire manor house:

“In England, our house is surrounded by barley fields, and in the summer it’s fascinating to watch the wind moving over the shimmering surface, like waves on an ocean of gold.

There’s something inherently sexy about the sight, something primal, as if the wind were making love to the barley. Lovers have made promises here, I’m sure, their bonds strengthened by the comforting cycle of the seasons.”

In the last moments of her CNN show, at the end of a very long week in which the nation heard Christine Blasey Ford’s detailed memories of how Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh allegedly sexually assaulted her in high school, Brooke Baldwin shared a message with viewers:

“This matters.”

“What we witnessed in that hearing was nothing short of extraordinary,” Baldwin said.

“Put the partisan politics and the insults and the spin to one side.

I want to mark this pivotal moment in American history when sexual assault, something that doesn’t often elicit more than a shameful whisper, is thrust into the open on national television.”

Glennis Grace (born as Glenda Hulita Elisabeth Batta, 19 June 1978, Amsterdam) is a singer from the Netherlands who in 2005 won the national selection in the Netherlands for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 for the nation. Grace’s song was the ballad “My Impossible Dream“, but she did not advance to the final.

She was discovered after she won a Dutch TV talent show where she performed Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time”. In April 2011 she reached the top of the Dutch singles chart with a rendition of “Afscheid”, a 1998 hit of the band Volumia!. She appeared on the 13th season of America’s Got Talent in 2018.

Her first performance on America’s Got Talent was a cover from Whitney Houston’s “Run To You”.

Season 2018 of  America’s Got Talent is ongoing.

I finally am caught up with the recorded episodes.

Ever since this choir’s audition, I’ve been meaning to post the video of their performance.

They sang Toto’s ‘AFRICA’ then.

I can’t put it off any longer, they received the ‘Golden Buzzer’.

Big enough to take up an entire stage, the Angel City Chorale will be moving onto its biggest stage yet – broadcast live on “America’s Got Talent.”

Competing against 17 other acts during the Judges’ Cut round, Angel City Chorale took the Golden Buzzer and one of the coveted seven spots in the next round of the competition.

The Los Angeles-based choir was founded in 1993 by Sue Fink. Fink said she wanted to create an environment for everyone to feel welcomed.

“Los Angeles is a maze,” Fink said. “It’s a huge city. I wanted to create a small community of singers that felt like they had a home.”

Diversity isn’t just a strength, but the group’s selling point. The choir is made up of people of all different walks of life coming together to celebrate their joys and comfort each other during their low moments. One of the members lost his son before joining the group.

“We try to represent diversity: different religions, different ages,” Fink said onstage. “We’re white, black, rich, poor, gay, straight. Even Republicans and Democrats can sit next to each other in our group.”

The pressure was on to top their audition performance of Toto’s “Africa.”

HIDDEN MEANINGS?

I like Katy Perry. She has some catchy. fun, meaningful songs.

I’ve heard this song and I like it .

A dear friend asked me if I’d seen the video (I hadn’t) and mentioned that there was a deeper, hidden meaning to the song.

“Chained to the Rhythm” Meaning
“Chained to the Rhythm” by Katy Perry is about people who live live far away from difficulty or unhappiness and who aren’t willing to come down out of these “bubble[s]” to see real problems that need to be solved in the world. She doesn’t specify the kind of problems and leaves it to her audience to apply her song to situations on their own though there does seem to be a pretty substantial political charge to this song.

 “Chained to the Rhythm” is obviously intended to be a club hit, which brings us to a dilemma: do we dance and ignore the message, or do we stop and try to change the world? Perry obviously wants us to wake up (and possibly stop listening to her song), which makes “Chained to the Rhythm” deeper than your average pop song and also heavily ironic.

Of course, all of this has a vague but unmistakable political tint to it.

Katy Perry was no fan of Donald Trump for United States president. In fact, she was outspokenly in favor of Hillary Clinton, so it makes sense that a song calling out people for not standing up and calling out those in power for being in the wrong could be about Donald Trump’s administration. In any case, “Chained to the Rhythm” is an interesting song with a deep meaning. Let me know what you think in the comments, and let’s continue the conversation!
