The great Freddie Mercury died 27 years ago today.
The beauty of his music will never fade.

Farrokh Bulsara (5 September 1946 – 24 November 1991), known professionally as Freddie Mercury, was a British singer-songwriter and record producer, best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Queen.
He was known for his flamboyant stage persona and four-octave vocal range.
Mercury wrote numerous hits for Queen, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Killer Queen”, “Somebody to Love”, “Don’t Stop Me Now”, “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, and “We Are the Champions”.
He led a solo career while performing with Queen, and occasionally served as a producer and guest musician for other artists.
“Baba Yetu” (Swahili: “Our Father“) is the theme song for the 2005 video game, Civilization IV. It was composed by Christopher Tin, and performed by Ron Ragin and the Stanford Talisman.
For its re-release in Tin’s debut album Calling All Dawns, it was performed by the Soweto Gospel Choir. The song, when rereleased, became the first piece of video game music to be nominated and win a Grammy Award.

This message is why Boyé believes he personally felt a deep connection to this particular song
“When my family found out I joined the church at the age of 16, I was kicked out of my house. That night, I walked the streets of London in tears clinging to the Book of Mormon like my life depended on it. It was the only thing constant left in my life,” Boyé said. “Whilst walking the streets homeless, I would recite the Lord’s Prayer and it became a source of deep comfort to me.”
~~Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper release ‘I’ll Never Love Again’ music video~~
“I’ll Never Love Again” was one of the numbers they most wanted to keep in check until audiences had a chance to experience it in theaters.
The song appears in the last scene of the movie, and without giving too much away for those who have yet to see it, it is performed in two different interlocking settings, both by Cooper and Gaga together at a piano and by Gaga alone on stage.
Cooper and Gaga famously sang all of their parts live during the making of the film, something Cooper insisted on, and “I’ll Never Love Again” is no exception.
To say that I’m an ardent fan of Mamma Mia isn’t enough.
First of all I love ABBA.
They were one of the musical groups of my time.
I ‘grew up’ listening to their music.
Time went by and the first movie came along. I couldn’t have enough of it. I’ve lost count of how many times I went to the theater to watch it. I even went to the ‘sing-a-long’ version.
Then the DVD came out and, of course, I ordered it.
Meryl Streep impressed me. So did the other members of the cast.
Well, of course I saw the prequel/sequel.
I loved it!!
Even learned about ABBA songs that I hadn’t heard.
The story line, acting, the music, the photography, the colors … all of it, joyful, fun, heartwarming!!

Listen to brand new music from Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga from the ‘A Star Is Born’ Soundtrack:
“Fields of Gold” is a song written and recorded by Sting.
It first appeared on his 1993 album Ten Summoner’s Tales. The song was released as a single but only made it to number 16 on the UK Singles Chart and to number 23 in the United States Billboard Hot 100.
However, it became one of Sting’s most famous songs, with many renowned artists covering the song.
In Lyrics By Sting, the singer described the view from his 16th-century Wiltshire manor house:
“In England, our house is surrounded by barley fields, and in the summer it’s fascinating to watch the wind moving over the shimmering surface, like waves on an ocean of gold.
There’s something inherently sexy about the sight, something primal, as if the wind were making love to the barley. Lovers have made promises here, I’m sure, their bonds strengthened by the comforting cycle of the seasons.”
Janet needs no introduction. She’s known worldwide of the Jacksons’ family fame.
Daddy Yankee needs no intro in the world of reggaeton.
Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez (born February 3, 1977), known by his stage name Daddy Yankee, is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, and record producer. Ayala was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, and was raised in the neighborhood of Villa Kennedy Housing Projects.
Daddy Yankee is the artist who coined the word Reggaeton in 1994 to describe the new music genre that was emerging from Puerto Rico.
Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee performed “Made for Now,” their new collaboration, for the very first time on television Friday night (Aug. 18). The pair took their own advice and moved their bodies with the upbeat song on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Never in a million years could we have dreamed up a collab between Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee, but alas, it’s 2018 and anything is possible in a post-Despacito universe. After they were spotted filming the video last month in New York, the reggaeton icon and pop titan have finally unleashed “Made for Now,” which finds the pair floating through the streets of Brooklyn with a troupe of international dancers from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada, and Trinidad.
As we previously reported, the production of “Made for Now” harnesses Afrobeats’ global pop explosion, and dancers are dressed in bold, colorful prints. The Big Boss hops in towards the end of the track to drop off some posi vibes and underscore the song’s message of celebrating the present moment.
Jackson and Yankee worked on the music video with famed director Dave Meyers, who has collaborated with Missy Elliott, Britney Spears, Kendrick Lamar, and more. The two legends are set to perform the new song together on The Tonight Show on Friday.
One evening, a few years ago in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, the PFC crew and I were waiting for an 80-year-old cuica player to perform on a Song Around The World.
I remember it seemed to take forever for him to make it down the hill, as he would stop off in every bar along the way for a drink and some conversation. As we waited I looked and saw a Rastaman walking across the street with his acoustic guitar in hand.
I waved to him and he came over to see what we were doing with all our equipment. I told him about Playing For Change and he agreed to play a song for us while we were waiting. The result was an incredible, spontaneous performance of Dennis Brown’s “Rasta Children.”
His voice reminded me of Peter Tosh and he sang with so much soul that we realized this could be an amazing Song Around The World. Just one man and his guitar playing on the street set the tone for this song and we added a worldwide band of roots musicians around him.
“I and I deal with humanity …”

Song Around The World
Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people.
The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World.
Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band – a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation – a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.
Filmed at the beautiful Kualoa Ranch in Oah’u, Hawai’i, this Live Outside video features Taimane performing her original composition, “The Moon,” alongside Windy Weather (violin) and Jasmine ‘Jazzy’ Skurtu (guitar).
“Being born and raised in Hawai’i, it’s hard not to be inspired by the nature around me,” shares Taimane.
“This song came to me one night when I was laying in my backyard with my dog, looking up at the moon wondering what she must be feeling. I did my best to personify her essence, who she is, and this song arose.”
Let this enchanting song carry you to the moon and beyond with a heart full of peace.

Whether delicately finger-picking through Bach or radically ripping through Led Zeppelin, Taimane has the ability to morph genres – from classical to rock to flamenco – and stretch her instrument far beyond the familiar melodies of Hawai`i, where she grew up. In addition to performing her own distinctive versions of well-known pieces, Taimane weaves in original compositions that are as far ranging as her musical tastes Ukulele Dance buy CD music.
Her breakout CD, Ukulele Dance features Bach’s ‘Tocatta‘, Lalo Schifrin’s ‘Mission Impossible Theme‘, and pieces she wrote for the planet Neptune and the Moon, as part of her series on the solar system. She lights up rooms wherever she goes, sparkling like the diamond that she is.
~Kanneh-Mason Family play Ave Maria (with Hobbit intro) at Bath Festival 2018~
This is the first time I was privileged to hear all 7 of these anointed musicians play together.
Ever since the Royal Wedding and me encountering the dynamic gift of Sheku Kanneh-Mason on the cello, and then the tremendous talent of his siblings as well, I have not been able to stop crying.
God’s hand is so powerfully on this family.
Just as King David played the harp, this entire family of psalmists is transforming the lives of others and taking authority over the atmosphere through song. They have been raised up strategically for such a time as this. May God crown them with glory, with open doors, and unprecedented favor.
