After the events of Oct. 2, our family visited Dad’s home in Virginia.
The hardest part was seeing his empty chair. His absence was deafening. We could see him sitting there, glasses on his forehead, reading or typing away. As we looked at his belongings, we knew he had chosen to write so tirelessly in the hopes that when he did return to the kingdom, it might be a better place for him and all Saudis.
This is no eulogy, for that would confer a state of closure.
Rather, this is a promise that his light will never fade, that his legacy will be preserved within us. Baba said it best:
“Some depart to remain,” which rings true today. We feel blessed to have been raised with his moral compass, his respect for knowledge and truth, and his love.
Until we meet again in the next life.

To all of my husband’s followers and to the friends he has made I thank you from the bottom of my heart and from his heart for coming to this site and his other sites. Many of you only knew my dear husband from this site and did not know the true person he was some even thought poorly of him but my husband was a very loving and dedicated father and an even more than loving spouse, soulmate and best friend to me.This was his blogs and views and I love him for being him and not giving a fuck what others thought. Unfortunately this will be the last post – my loving husband passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2018.
Our beautiful children and myself are grieving deeply for the wonderful person he was to us and writing this last post in his place is killing me on the inside but I needed to make sure everyone knew.

Cecil and David Rosenthal lived together, worshipped together, made their way through life together, two intellectually disabled brothers in their 50s who were ensconced in Pittsburgh’s close-knit Jewish community. And on Tuesday, they will be buried there together, in one of the first funerals to follow the shooting that killed the brothers and nine other people at Tree of Life synagogue.
Funerals were also set Tuesday for Dr. Jerry Rabinowitz, a family-medicine practitioner known for his caring and kindness, and Daniel Stein, a man seen as part of the core of his congregation.
Other victims’ funerals have been scheduled through Friday in a week of mourning, anguish and questions about the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history.

HARROWING TIMES

The norms, the standards, the beliefs, the expectations, the behavior, the basic goodness I grew up with; the values instilled in me by my parents, my teachers, my role models, my guides are being shaken to the core.
I feel the ground shaking under my feet. I’m losing my moorings. I’m questioning what is happening around me.
Evil things are happening and there’s no check on them.
Seems evil is winning a ferocious battle and I was taught that good would always prevail.
Will it?

“We were just informed that this morning’s tragedy was happening during a Briss for a set of twins adopted by a gay couple,” the organization posted Saturday on Facebook.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to all that were involved including the members of the Synagogue, law-enforcement and first responders.”

There are a reported 11 fatalities and six injured in the attack on the Tree of Life Congregation.

He was a prominent journalist who has covered major stories, including the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the rise of Osama Bin Laden, for various Saudi news organizations.
For decades, Mr. Khashoggi had been close to the Saudi royal family and he also served as an adviser to the government.
But he fell out of favor and went into self-imposed exile in the US last year. From there, he has written a monthly column in the Washington Post in which he has criticized the policies of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
In his first column for the newspaper, Mr Khashoggi said that he feared being arrested in an apparent crackdown on dissent overseen by the prince since he became first in line to succeed his father King Salman earlier that year.
“The people being arrested are not even being dissidents, they just have an independent mind,” he told the BBC’s Newshour program just three days before he disappeared.
He first visited the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on 28 September to obtain a document certifying that he had divorced his ex-wife, so that he could marry his Turkish fiancée.
But he was told he would have to return and arranged to come back on the 2 October.
“He did not mind walking into the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul because he did not believe that something bad could happen on Turkish soil,”
his fiancée, Hatice Cengiz, wrote in the Washington Post.

‘A STAR IS BORN’
FINALLY
I went to the movies yesterday and saw this film.
I was an ardent fan of the 1976 version in which Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson played the lead roles.
I wasn’t disappointed with this current version.
Both Bradley and Lady Gaga performed impeccably.
Fully recommend it!
This song is simply incredible. The story around it is worth watching the film.
