I think this is very timely as many Latin American countries like Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and many others are going through some of the hardest economic times of recent memory.

Choice round of the Semi-Finals .. Judge’s Choice

NOAH AND SHARNA

The remaining four dancing couples of Dancing With The Stars Season 20 performed for votes. Each couple performed two routines — one with the Judges’ Choice and a second routine.

For the Judges’ Choice round, each of the judges will be assigned to a couple to coach for one dance, choosing their song, dance style and overall creativity.

Noah and Sharna worked with Carrie Ann …. and they did a magnificent job.

The judge, Carrie Ann, intended to mirror Noah’s journey from wartime injury to recovery, and ultimately, performing on DWTS.

Julianne Hough calls it Noah’s best dance yet, and Noah and Sharna earned a Perfect 30.

This performance art group is known for works that marry modern dance, rock climbing, culture, and celebration.

Under the artistic direction of Amelia Rudolph, the dancers, climbers and riggers of Project Bandaloop, based in Oakland, California, collaborate to create a blend of dance, sport, ritual, and environmental awareness.

 

Their work explores the boundaries of dance and performance and seeks to honor nature, community, and the human spirit through their art. Inspired by the possibilities of climbing and rappelling, Project Bandaloop’s choreography relies on aerial, vertical and horizontal movement to craft site-specific dances. The group’s work marries modern dance and rock climbing, culture and nature, mortality and celebration.

The challenge of performing in a wide variety of venues — ranging from urban towers and skyscrapers to fields filled with boulders and large granite cliffs — helps free both the dance and dance space from convention. Bandaloop has performed site-specific works at the New York Stock Exchange, San Francisco Airport, and Yosemite National Park, as well as at traditional theaters in San Francisco, Boston, Buenos Aires, Portugal, and Canada.

For its Kennedy Center debut, Bandaloop will perform the Washington, D.C. premiere of Crossing: Stories of Gravity and Transformation, a new work that integrates images and stories of crossing the Sierra Nevada range, one of the company’s site-specific installations.

BANDALOOP is returning to its mountain roots. We are re-staging “Crossing,” a wilderness performance in one of the Sierra Nevada’s most rugged, remote locations in the Yosemite high country.

“Crossing” is historically significant within the cannon of American dance, challenging the boundaries of site-specific performance. Transporting the aesthetic of dancing remotely in fragile landscapes back to the urban, we will bring this work to large and diverse audiences both online and through live multi-media performance.

Amelia Rudolph originally created “Crossing” in 2001, performed over 18 days, across 78 miles and on a 1200 foot cliff. A literal crossing of the Sierra mountain range as performance, these dances were filmed and incorporated into an evening-length theater work performed in San Francisco, China and at the Kennedy Center.

The original work was featured on 20/20 and in the New York Times Magazine.

Bandaloop performs on and off the vertical wall of the 30 story, 413 feet high building of One Financial Plaza, on Kennedy Plaza. The California- based dance troupe brings a slow-motion elegance to the dreamscape over our heads. The performances at 7:30 and 9:30 pm, on Saturday September 29, with a dress rehearsal at 6 pm are presented by Providence FirstWorks as part of this years FirstWorks Festival.

Angelika’s Songs … “Go”, McClain Sisters!!

This is Angelika, my oldest grand-daughter, you may have seen her here a few times. She is 9 years old.

She loves music, as much as I do. She’s been keeping me up to date with some of the new songs that are coming out. She knows the songs but doesn’t know the performer most of the time. I’ve trying to teach her it’s important to also know who is singing. Very frequently, we use the “Shazam” app to identify the singer/band. 

I created this series: Angelika’s Songs  to post here the new songs that she teaches me about.

Angelika had a wonderful summer. She traveled up north, spent some days enjoying the sun. Now it’s time to go back to school. 

She’s given me a list of new songs. Might as well get started. She’s always asking now: “Have you done the song I told you about?”

So, here goes one of the songs in her ever growing list!!

McClain (formely 3McClainGirls and McClain Sisters) is an American Pop and R&B girl group. Formed in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, in 2004, the group consists of sisters China Anne McClain, Sierra McClain, and Lauryn McClain.

They signed with Hollywood and released the debut single “Go” November 2, 2012.

~~Beginning and name changes~~

Sierra Aylina, Lauryn Alisa and China Anne McClain grew up watching Disney films such as Pocahontas and musical classics such as The Wiz, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Annie. In 2004 the sisters became interested in music when they watched their father write and produce songs.

Soon after, the girls began to write songs, choreograph and dance. In 2005 the sisters were discovered as actresses by a music executive who heard them sing and encouraged director Rob Hardy to audition China for his 2005 feature film The Gospel alongside Boris Kodjoe and Idris Elba. China played the character Alexis and her sisters were in the supporting cast.

Also in 2005, the sisters became more serious about a musical career and formed their first group, the 3McClainGirls. They recorded their first song, “Silly Games”. The song was produced by Michael McClain and Larry Nix and written by Shontell McClain. In 2006 China joined the main cast of Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Sierra made guest appearances. In 2007 the group starred in the comedy film Daddy’s Little Girls as the James sisters. In 2008 the group recorded the song “Daddy’s Girls”, inspired by the movie, and released it exclusively on Myspace. In 2009 and 2010 the 3McClainGirls didn’t work as a group, because Sierra and China were focusing on acting careers.

The practice of a religion may also include rituals, sermons, commemoration or veneration of a deity, gods or goddesses, sacrifices, festivals, feasts, trance, initiations, funerary services, matrimonial services, meditation, prayer, music, art, dance, public service or other aspects of human culture. Religions may also contain mythology.

The word religion is sometimes used interchangeably with faith, belief system or sometimes set of duties; however, in the words of Émile Durkheim, religion differs from private belief in that it is “something eminently social”.

Many religions may have organized behaviors, clergy, a definition of what constitutes adherence or membership, holy places, and scriptures. Those we follow today, in all the different religions have one main “representative”: Buddha, Jesus, Muhammad.

They were all teachers who taught love.

What has happened to that teaching? 

In my humble opinion, it has been distorted and has become a weapon. A weapon of fear, control, stature in society. The main values have been lost.

Where is the love? Where is “do unto others”?

We ALL are connected through HUMANITY!!
