MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA

MOTHER EARTH SPEAKS

Mother Earth seems to be speaking through many events.

It may be time for the human residents to heed Her message.

From Category 4-5 hurricanes, significant drought, threatening wild fires to earthquakes. What more can Mother Earth say?

Montecito is an unincorporated census-designated place in Santa Barbara County, California. It is the wealthiest community in the county.

As a census-designated place, Montecito had a population of 8,965 in 2010.

Some of Montecito’s famous residents – Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey – are speaking out about the devastating mudslides that have ravaged Southern California.

The one-two punch of fire and downpour-fueled debris flows have debilitated the affluent, picturesque community of about 10,000 people. The slides have killed at least 17, destroyed an estimated 100 homes and sent rescuers scrambling through the rubble searching for dozens who are missing.

“This room is always so full of positivity and love and today, I really need it,”

DeGeneres told the audience of her daytime talk show Thursday, January 11.

“One of the things that I want to talk about is you know, we’ve had these terrible fires all over California and one of the hardest hit areas is where I live in Montecito,” she continued.

DeGeneres said following the blazes, she was able to return to her house at the tail-end of last month. She said she was filled with pride to see signs throughout the community of people expressing their gratitude to firefighters and first responders.

“I just love this place,” she said.

NASTY WOMAN

~~WOMEN’S MARCH ON WASHINGTON~~

JANUARY 2017

The current climate in the nation isn’t healthy. Ugly spots and sores are coming out. Women are telling their stories of abuse, powerlessness, harassment, assault at the hands of men who have a position of power in their lives, careers and government. It’s all coming out and the results aren’t pretty.

I’m including the full scrip to make sure you don’t miss one word.

It’s perfect for this moment in time.

HortyRex©

“My name is Ashley Judd and I am a feminist.

And I want to say hello to Independence Avenue in the back, all the way down to 17th Street, and I bring you words from Nina Donovan, a 19-year-old in Middle, Tennessee.

She has given me the privilege of telling you what she has to say:

“I am a nasty woman. I’m as nasty as a man who looks like he bathes in Cheetos dust. A man whose words are a distract to America. Electoral college-sanctioned, hate-speech contaminating this national anthem. I’m not as nasty as Confederate flags being tattooed across my city. Maybe the South actually is going to rise again. Maybe for some it never really fell. Blacks are still in shackles and graves, just for being black. Slavery has been reinterpreted as the prison system in front of people who see melanin as animal skin. I am not as nasty as a swastika painted on a pride flag, and I didn’t know devils could be resurrected but I feel Hitler in these streets. A mustache traded for a toupee. Nazis renamed the Cabinet Electoral Conversion Therapy, the new gas chambers shaming the gay out of America, turning rainbows into suicide. I am not as nasty as racism, fraud, conflict of interest, homophobia, sexual assault, transphobia, white supremacy, misogyny, ignorance, white privilege … your daughter being your favorite sex symbol, like your wet dreams infused with your own genes.

Yeah, I’m a nasty woman – a loud, vulgar, proud woman.

BLineAsh1BLine

“I am not nasty like the combo of Trump and Pence being served up to me in my voting booths. I’m nasty like the battles my grandmothers fought to get me into that voting booth. I’m nasty like the fight for wage equality. Scarlett Johansson, why were the female actors paid less than half of what the male actors earned last year. See, even when we do go into higher paying jobs our wages are still cut with blades sharpened by testosterone. Why is the work of a black woman and a Hispanic woman worth only 63 and 54 cents of a white man’s privileged daughter? This is not a feminist myth.

This is inequality. So we are not here to be debunked. We are here to be respected. We are here to be nasty.

“I am nasty like my bloodstains on my bed sheets. We don’t actually choose if and when to have our periods. Believe me if we could some of us would. We do not like throwing away our favorite pairs of underpants. Tell me, why are pads and tampons still taxed when Viagra and Rogaine are not? Is your erection really more than protecting the sacred messy part of my womanhood? Is the bloodstain on my jeans more embarrassing than the thinning of your hair?

BLineAsh3BLine

“I know it is hard to look at your own entitlement and privilege. You may be afraid of the truth. I am unafraid to be honest. It may sound petty bringing up a few extra cents. It adds up to the pile of change I have yet to see in my country. I can’t see. My eyes are too busy praying to my feet hoping you don’t mistake eye contact for wanting physical contact. Half my life I have been zipping up my smile hoping you don’t think I want to unzip your jeans.

I am unafraid to be nasty because I am nasty like Susan, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Amelia, Rosa, Gloria, Condoleezza, Sonia, Malala, Michelle, Hillary!

“And our pussies ain’t for grabbing.

There for reminding you that our walls are stronger than America’s ever will be. Our pussies are for our pleasure. They are for birthing new generations of filthy, vulgar, nasty, proud, Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Sikh, you name it, for new generations of nasty women. So if you a nasty woman, or you love one who is, let me hear you say, hell yeah.”

THE AWFUL AFTERMATH

(I FOUND THE VIDEO)

~AMERICAN CITIZENS IN CRISIS~

Last Sunday, November 5, CBS 60 Minutes reported on the aftermath of Hurricane María. I watched it and my heart continued to sink.

I was looking for the video to share it with you. I found it through Facebook.

Today is the 53rd day after the hurricane hit.

Progress has been slow and the spotlight of the main stream media has moved on to other events.

Let the video speak for itself!

(I don’t agree with all the provided in the video. The visual are all true).

Puerto Ricans in the island have endured the longest blackout in American history following a direct hit from Hurricane Maria. Due to a multitude of factors, some say the lights won’t be coming back on anytime soon.

It’s safe to say that of all the places in the country, the one that is suffering the most right now is the hurricane-ravaged island of Puerto Rico.

Most people probably don’t think of it as being part of the United States, but the people who live in Puerto Rico certainly do. It’s been a territory since 1898, and its 3.4 million people are U.S. citizens.

For the past 53 days, most of them have been without power, the longest blackout in American history.

FEMA says it has distributed more food and water there than any disaster its ever been involved in. Damages could reach $90 billion and Puerto Rico is already bankrupt. There has been some finger pointing about the speed and effectiveness of the relief and recovery effort, but the misery there has much more to do with nature.

When Hurricane María arrived on the morning of September 20th, it was largely unheralded and never projected to hit the continental United States, which was already suffering hurricane fatigue. But the storm tore into Puerto Rico with sustained winds of 155 miles an hour and then began a slow 12-hour crawl across the countryside, with the center of the storm enveloping the entire island.

THE DANGEROUS CASE OF DONALD TRUMP

ANYONE DOUBT ANYMORE?

If you notice, I wrote his name correctly.

The only reason for this is because it’s the book’s title. For me he’s been Drumpf, the original name when his ‘ancestors’ immigrated to this country.

The book is amazingly well done, thoroughly documented and scary as hell!

I’m just in the early chapters.

If you care about this country, get educated and don’t keep falling for the master of con men of this lifetime.

HortyRex©

BLineNormal

This is not normal.

BLine

Since the start of Drumpf’s presidential run, one question has quietly but urgently permeated the observations of concerned citizens: What is wrong with him? Constrained by the American Psychiatric Association’s “Goldwater rule,” which inhibits mental health professionals from diagnosing public figures they have not personally examined, many of those qualified to answer this question have shied away from discussing the issue at all. The public has thus been left to wonder whether he is mad, bad, or both.

In THE DANGEROUS CASE OF DONALD TRUMP, twenty-seven psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health experts argue that, in Mr. Drumpf’s case, their moral and civic “duty to warn” America supersedes professional neutrality.

They then explore Drumpf’s symptoms and potentially relevant diagnoses to find a complex, if also dangerously mad, man.

THE DAY TIME STOOD STILL IN PUERTO RICO

MASSIVE MORAL FAILURE!!

It’s been 39 days since María battered and shattered my country, Puerto Rico.

Many stories have come out after this natural disaster.

Still, on this day, mot much has changed.

Why?

The answer to why is multi-factorial.

However, there’s no denial that his has been a

MASSIVE HUMANITARIAN FAILURE.

Let this video do the ‘talking’.

HortyRex©

BLineMAriaBLine

What is happening in Puerto Rico?

Since the storm made landfall on September 20, Hurricane María has wreaked havoc on the island, causing a level of widespread destruction and disorganization paralleled by few storms in American history.  Thirty nine days after the storm abated, most of the island’s residents still lack access to electricity and clean water.

From a meteorological standpoint, María was nearly a worst-case scenario for the territory: The center of a huge, nearly Category 5 hurricane made a direct hit on Puerto Rico, lashing the island with wind and rain for longer than 30 hours.

“It was as if a 50- to 60-mile-wide tornado raged across Puerto Rico, like a buzz saw,” Jeff Weber, a meteorologist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, has told Vox.

Maria has many elements of a “catastrophic event,” and not just a disaster, says Tricia Wachtendorf, a professor of sociology at the University of Delaware who studies disaster relief.

~~HURRICANE MARIA~~

Video captures Hurricane María’s terrible impact on Puerto Rico.
On Tuesday afternoon, 34 days after the hurricane made landfall in Puerto Rico, the National Weather Service in San Juan posted an unassuming YouTube link to their Twitter account. I’ve never seen anything like it posted by the National Weather Service before.

The video is an 11 minute tour of the island, complete with drone flyovers and somber piano music. It shows the enormous scale of one of the worst humanitarian disasters in US history, as thousands of people continue to struggle for survival.

There’s footage from all corners of the island, showing washed out bridges, flattened homes, and broken infrastructure. The camera flies over a wind farm in Naguabo and a solar farm in Humacao – both destroyed in the storm. In nearly every shot, there are twisted trees, stripped of their leaves.

Though this video was intended as a visual chronicle to accompany a meteorological report, it’s striking on its own.

The Forgotten Puerto Rico …. “😥 El Puerto Rico Olvidado …. Things are NOT on way back to NORMAL 😥 …. “!!

~~October 28, 2017~~

THE FORGOTTEN PUERTO RICO

I’ve been keeping tabs on the ‘official death toll’ in Puerto Rico.

During Drumpf’s shameful visit to the Island, the ‘certified number’ was 17.

Keep in mind, most of the recovery activity is centered in the metro area.

The mountain towns are forgotten.

HortyRex©

BLine

Puerto Rico is mostly mountainous with large coastal areas in the north and south. The main mountain range is called “La Cordillera Central” (The Central Range).

The highest elevation in Puerto Rico, Cerro de Punta. 1,339 meters (4,393 ft), is located in this range.
