JULY 1, 1950

There! Now you figure how old I am.

It’s not my intention to toot my own horn. Yet, if I don’t tell you, how will you know? I was born near the capital city of Puerto Rico, San Juan.

I’ve been totally blessed with so much! 

I can’t complain.

My father lived to be almost 96 years old. He always said that he didn’t feel that age. His mind was sharp as a tack but his body betrayed him. I think, among many things, I inherited that from him too.  My understanding of his feelings become clearer as the years go by.

As the lady says, ‘my body knows my age but my mind totally refuses to believe it’.

WONDER WOMAN

“Wonder Woman” made history this weekend as it became the first-ever female-led superhero blockbuster!

After receiving rave reviews from fans and film critics alike, it also ruled at the box office, grossing $100.5 million in the US and Canada and over $220 million worldwide. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, the film’s spectacular debut set a new record for the biggest opening for a female director.

This was a huge achievement for female filmmakers in general observed media analyst Paul Dergarabedian who said,

“Any ridiculous notion that a woman may not be suited to direct a big budget superhero movie is hopefully once and for all shattered.”

The film also proved any naysayers about the appeal of a female-led superhero film wrong – on the film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, “Wonder Woman” earned a 94% approval rating from critics and 93% from fans, with the site’s critical consensus stating:

“Thrilling, earnest, and buoyed by Gal Gadot’s charismatic performance, Wonder Woman succeeds in spectacular fashion.”

STAR WARS DAY

Star Wars Day, May 4, celebrates Star Wars created by George Lucas.

It is observed by fans of the movies. Observance of the holiday spread quickly through media and grassroots celebrations.

The date was chosen for the easy pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you” as “May the Fourth be with you“. Even though the holiday was not actually created or declared by Lucasfilm, many Star Wars fans across the world have chosen to celebrate the holiday.

IT’S SO HOT! 

Angelika, my oldest grand-daughter found these for me.

She was browsing through my phone looking for her favorite dog … basset hound.

The Basset Hound is a short-legged breed of dog of the hound family, as well as one of six recognized Basset breeds in France.

The Basset is a scent hound that was originally bred for the purpose of hunting hare. Their sense of smell for tracking is second only to that of the Bloodhound.

Finals …. “DWTS Season 22 …. Ginger & Val’s Freestyle”!!

TONIGHT IS DECISION NIGHT

Three couples remain.

Any one has the potential to be the winner of it all.

Each couple performed two dances: a Redemption Dance and the Freestyle.

All are deserving of the title of champion and taking the mirrored ball home.

I must say this will be a hard decision.

The numbers are very close.

Ginger has been battling a bad injury.

Yet, she managed to present two almost flawless performances.

Ginger Zee’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Finals Freestyle Dance

Ginger Zee and her dancing pro partner Val Chmerkovskiy take on two amazing dances during Dancing with the Stars finals on Monday (May 23).

The 35-year-old Good Morning America meteorologist and her pro partner did their redemption dance to “Adventure of a Lifetime” by Coldplay in the style of Jazz. They received a score of 28 out of 30. For their second dance, a freestyle, Ginger and Val took on “Orange Colored Sky” by Nat King Cole.

They received a perfect 30 out of 30 for this dance.

On Tuesday (May 24), the Mirror Ball winner will be revealed and it will either be Ginger, Paige VanZant, or Nyle DiMarco.

There was a question as to whether Ginger would even dance Monday evening, as she has been battling a bad injury.

REVENGE OF THE FIFTH

Star Wars Day was officially first celebrated on May 4, 2011.

In fact, the holiday became so popular that starting in 2012, the next day was jokingly called “Revenge of the Fifth”, a pun on the Star Wars movie title Revenge of the Sith. It might also have something to do with that day being Cinco de Mayo, but to this day fans still like to let their “evil sides” come out the day after Star Wars Day.

When is Star Wars Day?

Star Wars Day is on May 4th every year, playing on the catchphrase “May the Force Be With You.”

The very next day, (as if one day isn’t enough), May 5th, Star Wars fans celebrate Revenge of the Fifth, reserved for those who celebrate the dark side. It’s a play on the title of the third Star Wars movie Revenge of the Sith.

Is It Revenge Of The Fifth or 6th?

People often get confused because the day after May 4th is not only Cinco de Mayo but “Revenge of the Fifth“.

Sometimes it is celebrated on May the 6th because people skip over the 5th for Cinco de Mayo.

David Bowie’s last release, Lazarus, was ‘parting gift‘ for fans in carefully planned finale
The producer of Blackstar confirms David Bowie had planned his poignant final message, and videos and lyrics show how he approached his death

David Bowie’s final record was a carefully-orchestrated farewell to his fans, his producer has confirmed.
Lazarus, released on the Bowie’s 69th birthday just two days before his death, opens with the lyrics:

“Look up here, I’m in Heaven!”

Its video, which will be viewed in a very different light by millions of fans today, features the musician in a hospital bed, and finishes with him retreating in to a dark closet.

Tony Visconti, the producer who worked with Bowie to complete his final album, has released a statement saying it was deliberately created and timed as a “parting gift” for his fans.

In a statement on his Facebook page, he said:

“He always did what he wanted to do.

And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way.

His death was no different from his life – a work of Art.”

ANIMAL RIGHTS POEM 

All of them
Big
or small.

Protection is needed
for them all.

No matter how minuscule
or how vast.

Only protection
will make them last.

They’re treated like things.
They’re treated like dirt.

Nobody seems to care
about how much they hurt.

Extinction, endangerment and cruelty
are all an issue.

I’m sure that if they could cry
tears of sadness and pain,
that wouldn’t ever have
enough tissues.

People need to stand up
and encourage animal’s rights.

No matter what,
we need to fight.

To fight for what we believe
the animals need.

Just stand up and
use our numbers
to take the lead.

We need to take the lead
for all the animals that on their own
can’t speak.

We need to help the ones
that can’t help themselves
because they are so weak.

It would save the world
one animal at a time.

And would also
really create a substantial
meaning
for this rhyme.
