After mindless tweets, the transgender ban and the Arpaio pardon, Drumpf decides it’s time to visit the disaster area … but not too close.

Never a tweet about the human suffering, loss or destruction.

‘So-Called President’ Drumf Touches Down in Texas
Drumpf and Melania Drumpf arrived in Texas Tuesday afternoon, August 29,  to survey the disaster in Harvey’s wake. They avoided the Houston metropolitan area, which remains an active emergency zone and continues to be inundated by rain, rising floodwaters, and overflowing rivers and reservoirs.

Instead, he visited Corpus Christi, which is about 30 miles from the hard-hit Rockport, Texas, where the Category 4 hurricane touched down Friday, August 25.

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is a song by the British rock band Queen. It was written by Freddie Mercury for the band’s 1975 album A Night at the Opera.

It is a six-minute suite, consisting of several sections without a chorus: an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock part and a reflective coda.

The song is a more accessible take on the 1970’s progressive rock genre. It was reportedly the most expensive single ever made at the time of its release, though the exact cost of production cannot be determined.

Earlier this month, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and Senator Mike Lee of Utah, through his spokesperson, told Buzzfeed they plan to reintroduce an embattled bill that barely gained a House hearing in 2015. But this time around, they said, the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) was likely to succeed due to a Republican-controlled House and the backing of President-elect Donald Trump.

FADA would prohibit the federal government from taking “discriminatory action” against any business or person that discriminates against LGBTQ people. The act distinctly aims to protect the right of all entities to refuse service to LGBTQ people based on two sets of beliefs:

“(1) marriage is or should be recognized as the union of one man and one woman,

or (2) sexual relations are properly reserved to such a marriage.”

Ironically, the language of the bill positions the right to discriminate against one class of Americans as a “first amendment” right, and bans the government from taking any form of action to curb such discrimination – including withholding federal funds from institutions that discriminate.

FADA allows individuals and businesses to sue the federal government for interfering in their right to discriminate against LGBTQ people and would mandate the Attorney General defend the businesses.

THERE WAS ONCE A BOY …. A MUSLIM BOY

OVERZEALOUS OR IDIOCY?

On Sunday, September 13, 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed built a homemade clock. It wasn’t especially difficult for him, and the result wasn’t polished — it looked like a mess of wires and circuitry. He was still adjusting to life as a high schooler, and he wanted to bring in something cool to show his teachers.

Mohamed eagerly showed several teachers the clock and explained what it was, but he didn’t get the congratulations he was expecting. Instead, he left school in handcuffs.

Young Mohamed’s story has drawn accusations of racism and Islamophobia, and many — scientists, technologists and members of the general public alike — are expressing shock and outrage. But as with any incident of discrimination, especially in science, the truth is that we aren’t really shocked. And that’s the worst part.

THE CASE OF THE DIXIE CHICKS COMES TO MIND

There are people who staunchly believe it’s unpatriotic to criticize the president of the United States. Apparently, these people think that “he’s our president, right or wrong, and we all need to support him, you know”.

It’s funny, because I know a few people who tell me it’s unpatriotic, but I don’t remember those people saying that when George W. Bush was president.

Well, there’s nothing in the U.S. Constitution or the Bill of Rights that states we are obligated to support our government, or any elected official in it. There are laws against treasonous behavior and laws against making threats of bodily harm, as there should be.

But there is nothing obligating us to queue up and support all the policies and actions of those elected to public office. That’s a personal decision we are entitled to make. In fact, some would say it’s the solemn duty of every citizen to criticize elected officers when deserved, especially a president.

We live in a republic.

The president and commander in chief works for us. We “hire” him when we elect him. Then we pay close attention to what he does on the job. In your mind, if he makes good decisions and serves your interests, you rehire him. If he’s a poor leader and decision-maker, you try to fire him in the next election by voting for his opponent.

What exactly is Jade Helm 15?

According to the U.S. Army website, Jade Helm is a multi-state training exercise taking place July 15 through Sept. 15 with members of U.S. Army Special Operations Command and service members from the military’s four branches. While the exercise is taking place across seven states, the Special Operations Forces are only training in five states: Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado.

But the exercises will take place primarily in Texas, according to the unclassified request for training from Special Operations Command, because it requires large areas of undeveloped land as well as access to towns.

The U.S. military is consistently conducting training exercises inside the U.S., both in remote areas and sometimes inside populated cities. And it’s certainly not the first military exercise to occur inside the state of Texas.

So what, if anything, sets Jade Helm 15 apart?

In a March 24 press release from the Army, Jade Helm 15 was described simply as a “routine training exercise to maintain a high level of readiness.”

The reason given for picking out the particular states, including Texas, is because each possesses a “unique terrain” that soldiers might find themselves operating in overseas.

But also in the same press release, the Army specifically notes Jade Helm 15 being separate from the pack, noting it for its “size and scope.” It led to several citizens raising their eyebrows over the idea of a surge of federal presence inside the state.

I almost promised myself that I wasn’t going to give this idiot any time on my “spot”. However, as I read more and more. As I listen to more information, I’m getting quite concerned.

Is this the country that I want to live in? Is this the country that I’ve looked up to all of my adult life?

I can’t help it. I apologize for those who don’t enjoy politics or don’t even follow any political topic. But this man is scary …. and he has tossed his hat in the ring of the future candidates running for the USA presidency in 2016.

Is there any way that this could be stopped? How many voters will be taken is by his insane rhetoric?
