I’LL BE AWAY FOR A FEW DAYS

I’m going away for a bit.

There’s a trip I’m going on.

I’m going back home for a few days.

I won’t be able to post as usual. I won’t be able to reblog either … my phone and my iPad don’t have the ‘reblog button’ anymore.

Don’t know why!

Anyway, I will be looking in every so often to check up on my dear friends.

I will miss all of you.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 20, 2017, Hurricane María struck Puerto Rico, devastating the island and plunging all of its 3.4 million residents into a desperate humanitarian crisis.

I will never forget.

I’m going to see family and friends.

I want to drive around and see what is happening 8 months after this disaster.

I found an amazing man through this wonderful web we weave as we blog.

We’ve know each other for at least 4-5 years. We have never met in person but we ‘talk’ a lot. He’s been a great help in many things and he’s always there to listen.

At this moment in time, he’s going through a tough personal/family situation.

Comfortably Numb has always been one of my all time favorite songs, so I decided to make my own cover of it. I thought the harp guitar would work well with this song. Also for the ending solo I thought it would sound best on electric so I looped the chords and played the solo on my Fender Strat!

I met this extraordinary woman in 1985 when I began my career with the Veterans Administration in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

There are no words to express the feeling of loss of such an incredible woman.

You saw her coming down the hallway, in her bright attire, with a smile that went from ear to ear.

Her hearty laugh was music to our ears.

Her kind heart, her incredible dedication, her amazing sense of humor are but a few of the qualities she has.

Her Three Kings Day celebration was unique!

THE YEAR 2016

During the early months of 2016, the world was shinning.

The promise of progress and positive change was in the air.

I married the love of my life in early January.

There is no doubt in my mind that 2016 has been a difficult year, full of change, challenges, losses, promises, conflicts and uncertainty.

Many loved ones have been lost that we are aware of and plenty must have been lost that we do not know about.

Personally, it’s been difficult for me because I have seen the ‘melting away‘ of institutions that have been very sacred to me.

I do not have today the hope, the joy and the looking forward to the next year (2017) that frequently accompanies this festivity.

I’m very concerned about 2017.

It’s lost the shine and luster that usually comes with new beginnings.

I haven’t been able to shake off a feeling of dread since November 8.

Call me a ‘snowflake‘, call me a ‘sore loser‘, call me a ‘pessimist‘.

Call me all you want; I can take it.

‘Stick and stones may brake my bones but words will never hurt me.”

I know how I feel and I know why.

I’m carefully observant and vigilant now.

I so hope to be proven wrong!

THE SAD REALITY

Some may have noticed I’ve been quiet.

I still haven’t been able to gather my thoughts together, get my spirit going and feel at ease.

It may take a while before I’m back to my usual self.

The wind has been taken out of my sails!

I was gearing for a total and complete ‘sea of blue‘ in that American map on Election night.

As we all know, that didn’t happen.

It was a ‘sea of red‘.

Could it be a forecast of what is to come?

It’s already caused rifts between friends and some family members.

It’s only been two days.

There are still 1458 days to go after January 2017.

Can we take it?

A friend of mine wrote this ….

“The majority of America just voted for a hateful, misogynist man to be the the highest leader in the land. A vote for Trump essentially said you approve of that behavior. You can’t tell me any different, and you won’t convince me otherwise. So, you got what you voted for. I hope you are happy.”

Anyone who voted for him embraces all of this positions, ideologies, flaws … all of him. You don’t get to ‘cherry-pick‘ what you think is best. You ‘bought’ him …. he’s all yours!

We are too different to be able to reconcile our differences. This is fake and I am not that.
