Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) inadvertently created a rallying cry for supporters of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) when he rebuked her after the Senate voted to prevent her from speaking.
As Democrats held the Senate floor overnight to protest Sen. Jeff Sessions’s (R-Ala.) nomination for attorney general, Warren quoted a 1986 letter that the late Coretta Scott King, a civil rights activist and wife of Martin Luther King Jr., wrote opposing Sessions’s nomination for a federal judgeship at the time.
“Sen. Warren was giving a lengthy speech. She had appeared to violate the rule. She was warned. She was given an explanation. Nevertheless, she persisted.”
The Senate voted 49-43 along party lines to prevent Warren from speaking on the Senate floor for the remainder of debate on Sessions’s nomination.

In a thought-provoking new video for UNICEF, Beckham once again bares his famous skin, but not in the way you’d expect. This time, Beckham’s distinctive body art is on display to draw awareness to violence against children.
“Violence marks forever,” a child’s voice intones as the camera roves over a shirtless Beckham.
His tattoos come alive, illustrating animated scenes of abuse and bullying, sound-tracked by cruel laughter and fearful screams.
“David Beckham chose the marks on his skin, but millions of children bear marks that they haven’t chosen,” the video’s caption explains, imploring us to end violence against children.
Paige and Mark have definitely been frontrunners all season on ‘DWTS,’ but their last dance was extra special, thanks to the woman behind the mic.
Mark Ballas‘ last dance with Paige VanZant was like none other — mostly because his soon-to-be wife, BC Jean, performed the number!
Mark, 29, and Paige, 22, danced a powerful freestyle on Dancing with the Stars to “Over the Rainbow,” and BC Jean, 29, absolutely nailed the cover.
The dance was super powerful dance for Paige, bringing her back to the town she left to get away from bullying — it started with her opening a music box, and out came BC!
The NOH8 Campaign (NOH8 meaning “No Hate”) is a charitable organization in the United States whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.
The campaign was created as photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8” painted on one cheek in protest. The phrase refers to “H8” (leet for ‘hate’), short for “Proposition H8” (pronounced “proposition hate”), a nickname used by critics of the proposition. The photos are featured on the campaign’s website, as well as various social networks, as well as a virtual world campaign in Second Life.
The images are widely used on various social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to spread the message of equality. Some photographers and student groups have even set up their own photoshoots.The campaign photos have circulated on the internet and are appearing on many supporter’s social networking profiles. Both LGBT and non-LGBT people have participated in the photoshoots.
~HISTORY~
On November 4, 2008 Proposition 8 passed in California, amending the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. The defeat provoked a groundswell of initiative within the LGBT community at a grassroots level, with many new political and protest organizations being formed in response.
The NOH8 Campaign was created in 2009 as a result of the amendment of Proposition 8. While initially inspired by Proposition 8, the scope of the NOH8 Campaign has expanded its main goals to fight discrimination and bullying universally as a means to spread a worldview of acceptance.
The NOH8 Campaign will team up with The Wedding Alliance for an open photo shoot at the The Parliament House on Saturday, May 9th! Stop by anytime between 12pm-3pm to pose for an official NOH8 photo by photographer Adam Bouska. No reservations needed!
Photos are first-come, first-served – and we move fast! Please arrive camera-ready with a plain white shirt to match the signature style of the NOH8 photos.
Once you arrive, the next steps are easy!
1. Fill-out one numbered model release for each person.
2. Have a NOH8 temporary tattoo applied for your photo.
3. Standby for your number to be called.
4. Process your payment once called.
5. Trade your processed model release for duct tape!
NOH8 Co-Founder Adam Bouska will photograph roughly 5-10 frames per person. One frame will be selected/edited by our team and made available within approximately eight weeks (timeline subject to change).
Funds raised by the NOH8 Campaign will be used to continue promoting and raising awareness for marriage and human equality as well as anti-discrimination and anti-bullying through NOH8’s interactive social media campaign. This includes bringing the campaign to other cities and countries around the world, creating and compiling images for our ongoing large-scale media campaign, and covering the costs of the daily operations and maintenance necessary to run this rapidly growing campaign out of our Burbank Headquarters.
A group of familiar faces speaking nine different languages from all over the world came together for our third NOH8 PSA to share their one simple message: I am human.
No matter what language you speak or what country you live in, everybody everywhere speaks the universal language of love. We are all human, and we deserve to be treated equally.

Jetta Fosburg’s mother was so proud of her 10-year-old daughter for cutting 14 inches off of her hair to help children with cancer. But when Jetta showed up to school with short hair, her classmates began bullying her for having a “boy’s” hair cut. Her mother contacted the school and says the principal told her that he didn’t know of any child that had ever died from words and that Jetta should toughen up.
Support for Jetta is pouring in from around the country as she and her mother take a stand against bullying.
An Ohio mother is speaking out after she says her 10-year-old daughter was bullied at school because she cut her hair short to donate it to charity.
Fox 45 reported on October 20, 2014, that Jetta Fosburg decided on her own to cut 14 inches off of her long blonde hair and donate it to Wigs for Kids, a charity that helps children with cancer and other hair loss issues.
“I have some family members who have cancer so I thought it was the right thing to do,” Jetta told Fox 45.
However, her mother Heidi Fosburg told the station that ever since Jetta cut her hair, “things have not been good.” Fosburg pulled her daughter out of her school, Pathway School of Discovery in Dayton, after she said Jetta was bullied about her short hair.
“They said things like she wants to be a boy, she’s ugly now, a lot of hurtful things,” Fosburg told Fox 45.
Fosburg said she took her concerns to her daughter’s teacher, and filled out a bullying report. Although the school promised to address the issue, she said the bullying continued. She also contacted the principal, who she said told her to “tough it out,” according to Fox 45.
“And (he) told me that he didn’t know of any child that had ever died from words. And that we needed to toughen up and deal with it, and he would deal with it how he saw appropriate, which was obviously not the response we were looking for,” Fosburg told WHIO.
National Heritage Academies, which runs Pathway School of Discovery, told WHIO in a statement that they are investigating the case after a complaint was filed.
Meanwhile, support has poured in for Jetta. Her mother has set up a Facebook page to encourage her, and Fox 45 reported Thursday that supporters gathered outside her school to stand against the bullies.
“This is about building Jetta up and sharing this message so other kids that are bullied can know we’re behind them,” school show choir director Sara Reynolds told Fox 45.
When we arrive on this world, we are connected to Source. We are like a blank page on a notebook. There’s nothing written there. There are no rules yet established. It’s like an empty CD. There’s innocence, all is good and pleasurable. No boundaries or limits are in place.
There’s intense love and purity.
How long does this stage last?
As soon as we realize what is around us, after the mother figure ceases to be the center of attention, that’s when the outside world starts invading our small inside “world”.
I remember when I first held Angelika, my oldest grandchild, in my forearm (that’s how tiny she was). I looked into those big, brown eyes and saw nothing but bright light and wonder. I didn’t want to let her go. I didn’t want to see her grow. I knew then that this couldn’t be. Of course, she would grow up and start making her way in her world.
As we all walk along our path we have experiences that leave their marks in our self. There’s pain generated through some experiences. There’s mistrust generated also. We may become bitter because of this.
Try with all our might to still believe that this is a beautiful world.
That’s our mission.
Keeping this mission, during the days that we are living, is proving to be difficult. How can we remain soft, avoid hate and bitterness? How can we remain soft when all that surrounds us can have no other effect but to make us hard?
We see greed, dishonesty, conflict, prejudice, disease, inequality, persecution, racism, bullying, poverty, hunger, conflicts, war, killing … on a daily basis, be it at “home” or around the world. Try as hard as you can …. keep the faith, continue your journey and believe.
